Eight Asian teams directly qualify for the FIFA World Cup
The men’s football teams from all over Asia are ready to lead their side to the FIFA World Cup 2026. 36 nations representing the AFC (Asian Football Confederation) are all set to battle in the March international break 2024.
All teams fighting for a World Cup spot have already played two matches each. Some teams started their qualification campaign on a high and six teams are yet to register a point in the group table.
Qatar, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia are some of the favourites to represent the continent in Canada, USA and Mexico.
As per the current scenario, Qatar, Japan, Australia, Iraq, UAE and Saudi Arabia are the only teams with a 100% record in the qualification campaign.
Japan’s Ayae Ueda is the joint-highest goal-scorer alongside Qatar’s Almoez Ali. South Korea’s sensation Heung-min Son is just behind them on four goals along with Saleh Al-Shehri of Saudi Arabia.
Homam Elamin is leading the assists chart with four to his name. Japan’s Junya Ito is also on four assists.
These teams are set to play two matches in the March international break.
