A 27-man squad have been announced by the Atlas Lions
The Morocco national football team are buzzing in Group E of the 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers. The head of coach of the national side, Walid Regragui has revealed a 27-man squad for June.
Morocco should have played two qualifiers so far but even with one game played, they lead the Group E of the 2026 FIFA World Cup African qualifiers because of a better goal difference over Zambia.
The Atlas Lions had Eritrea and Tanzania on their qualifier schedule back in November 2023. But as the former pulled out of the competition just two days before facing Morocco, they ended up playing just Tanzania.
A 2-0 win over the Taifa Stars gave them all three points. Later the side led by Regragui met the aforementioned side once again but in a different event, the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. After progressing from the group, the nation’s journey was halted in the Round of 16 by South Africa.
In June, Morocco will be playing two World Cup qualifiers fixtures. Firstly they take on Zambia and then the Republic of Congo.
A 27-man squad have been approved by the long-standing manager. It features the likes of Yassin Bono, Achraf Hakimi of Paris Saint-Germain, and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich. Even the midfield has world-renowned stars such as Sofyan Amrabat and Real Madrid star Brahim Díaz.
Even though the attackers include Hakim Ziyech, Youssef En-Nesyri and Bayer Leverkusen’s Amine Adli, we know what Díaz is capable of, on his day.
