The Three Lions are one of the top favourites going into the European competition.

The 2023-24 club football season is finally over in England. Now, the England national team are bracing themselves up for Euro 2024. The last time around, it was very close for England until they lost the final against Italy. Gareth Southgate has already announced his 33-man provisional squad for the Euro 2024.

Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham, and Harry Kane are some of the important players who are just not part of the squad but will also feature in the playing XI. Youngsters like Cole Palmer, Kobbie Mainoo, and Anthony Gordon are also part of the 33 players squad announced by England.

However, some of the stars have missed out on the squad for the Euro 2024. In this article, let us take a look at the top five England players who have missed out on the squad for the Euro 2024 squad.

5. Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford had a very bad Premier League season this time around. So, his exclusion was not at all a surprise! He had a 30-goal season in 2022-23. However, he failed to deliver this season and had a very disappointing run altogether.

However, he could still have been a vital weapon for England in the Euros. He is sharp, agile and fast. Rashford can cause trouble to any opposition defense. He has scored 17 goals in 60 games for England.

4. Reece James

A fit Reece James is definitely a contender to be the world’s best right-back! He is dangerous offensively and is more than capable of thwarting attacks on the right side. However, he has faced a lot of injury concerns this season during his time with Chelsea.

He has played in just 10 games this season and had a major injury in August. The injury crisis has cost him a spot in the squad for the Euros 2024. He has played 16 games for the three Lions so far and has contributed to three assists for them.

3. Raheem Sterling

Raheem Sterling has a great International experience. He has scored 20 goals and has contributed to 27 assists in the 82 games that he has played for the Three Lions. However, he had a poor season with Chelsea in the Premier League and that has not found him worthy of a place in the squad for the Euros 2024.

Sterling has not been part of the England squad since 2022 and has not lately been in the plans of Gareth Southgate due to his dismal run of form.

2. Dominic Solanke

Harry Kane is the starting striker for the Three Lions in the Euro 2024. However, Dominic Solanke would have hoped that he would find his place as a backup striker in the squad. He has had a splendid season in 2023-24, having scored 19 goals and contributed to 3 assists.

Fans and analysts thought that such a season would have earned him a place in the English squad for the Euro 2024. However, his lack of International experience may have cost him a place in the squad!

1. Jadon Sancho

Boss Erik ten Hag had frozen out Jadon Sancho after a public altercation. However, his return to Dortmund helped them reach the Champions League final. He dispelled critics with his unquestionable brilliance in the semi-final victory against Paris Saint-Germain.

He had previously represented England in the European Championship and was haunted by a missed opportunity in the last round of penalties against Italy. Despite his skill, he hasn’t played for the Three Lions since a World Cup qualifier against Andorra in October 2021.
