Robin Singh on upcoming Champions League final

We had a chance to interact with one of the former Indian football players Robin Singh regarding the upcoming Champions League final between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid we got to discuss some of the questions with him and had an interesting chat with him about the game and who will win the silverware.

1. In the last two European finals underdog teams have prevailed as Olympiacos beat Fiorentina 1-0 in the Conference League final and Atalanta beat Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the Europa League final, do you think Dortmund will continue this underdog trend when they face Real Madrid?

Robin Singh: Dortmund definitely wants to take an example from Leverkusen and Olympiacos, learning from both these finals in the Conference League and the Europa League. Because of how they took the game against so-called favourites, I think Dortmund will look at it. Right, we are not going to sit back, and it’s the Champions League final.

Go out there and give it our all. That being said, Dortmund are the surprise package, and we spoke about from which group they came out, we also have to understand the kind of football they play with their attacking line; they have one of the best players in attack.

So it’s not a bad attacking lineup, and we didn’t know this lineup could hurt any team, so Real Madrid will also have to be careful, even though we are saying they have a Champions League pedigree. It’s not going to be easy, and I’m sure Dortmund will try to cause all sorts of problems for Real.

2. Compared to the Champions League and Bundesliga Dortmund have been a different side they have beaten the likes of Atletico Madrid and PSG, which is something they should learn from and imitate the same performance against Real.

Robin Singh: Absolutely, based on their own past performances, they will think the same: if we have beaten Atletico Madrid and PSG, then in the final they will be more than ready. They have beaten the likes of PSG and AC Milan as well.

It will also be a learning experience for Dortmund itself because if they do it against big dogs, then they feel they are not underdogs, and we are competitors, and they will have to go there and win games and not just participate, and all the Dortmund players will be speaking to each other. If they do it in past matches, they can do it in the final too.
