The Italian club Atalanta finally know their opponents.

Atalanta will take on Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup on August 14 in Warsaw, fulfilling head coach Gian Piero Gasperini’s dream.

Following a 3-0 triumph over Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Europa League final, La Dea qualified for the Super Cup. This was their first European title, as they now look to add another.

The Super Cup is scheduled for August 14 in Warsaw and customarily serves as the start of the new European campaign. On Saturday night at Wembley Stadium, Real Madrid defeated Borussia Dortmund 0-2 in the Champions League final.

Gasperini, the Atalanta coach, had stated that he dreamed of playing Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup. It appears that his wish finally came true, as Ancelotti earned his fifth title in the UEFA Champions League.

The German team were strong in the first half and they had chances to score multiple goals, with one shot even hitting the post. However, after the break, goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinicius Jr. earned Los Blancos a record 15th Champions League title.

Dortmund were major underdogs going into the game because they had only won the competition once, back in 1997 and were making their first appearance in the final in 11 years.

Currently, Manchester City are the holders of the Super Cup. After a 1-1 draw with Sevilla, even with extra-time played, City defeated the Spanish side on penalties to win the competition in 2023.

The 2024 edition between Atalanta and Real Madrid will take place at the Stadion Narodowy in Warsaw, Poland. This was decided upon during the UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Limassol, Cyprus, on September 26, 2023. The stadium was constructed for UEFA Euro 2012 which took place in Poland and Ukraine.

Three Group A games, a quarter-final and a semi-final were held at the venue. Since then, it has served as the site for the 2015 UEFA Europa League final. Currently, the Poland national football team’s home games are played here. It can accommodate 58,826 people.
