The Cityzen’s will look to win their eighth FA Cup glory against their arch-rival
The FA Cup is one of the oldest competitions in world football that gives lower-division sides the chance to showcase their potential against top-flight opponents. The match also known as Manchester derby will be the cup final match between Manchester sides Manchester United and Manchester City for the 2023-24 season.
It will take place in Wembley with power-packed fans cheering for their respective sides. The Cityzen’s defeated some of the best teams on their route to earning their place in the finals. Pep Guardiola is in a great position to win the double after winning the Premier League on the last match day and will also have the chance to do the double over their rivals after beating them the previous year here as well.
Let’s now take a look at how Manchester City booked their place in the FA Cup final 2023-24:
Round 3: Dismantled Championship side Huddersfield Town
Pep Guardiola rested some of his key players for this match against Huddersfield but did put together a strong eleven containing academy talents Rico Lewis and Oscar Bobb. City began their FA Cup campaign against EFL Championship outfit Huddersfield Towb. The Cityzen’s won the match being pretty dominant with a 5-0 scoreline.
Round 4: Faced a familiar opponent in the form of Tottenham
Guardiola had a tough opponent in this round compared to other teams in the competition. As Tottenham have proven to be a shrewd opponent for them, they had to deal with them in a tricky away match. TheCityzens created chance after chance, but they couldn’t finish the job.
As opposed to the 18 shots they had, they were able to limit the home team to just one shot. It took them until the 88th minute to break the deadlock after Nathan Aké put the ball in the back of the net from a corner kick.

Round 5: Erling Haaland scored five goals in this match to create history

This match saw Erling Haaland create history by becoming the first player to score five goals in a match. This match also saw Mateo Kovačić opening his account for the new season.
Quarter-Final: Cityzens defeated Newcastle United in a comprehensive victory
It was a tough match for Manchester City against Newcastle United, who were having an excellent season up until now. With Bernardo Silva netting a brace in the first half, the Champions put on a show against the Premier League outfit. Later they dominated possession in the second half to limit the visitors. Even though Newcastle had started to become more involved, it was much too late for them to make any difference.
Semi-Final: Manchester City defeated Chelsea in a close match
In this match, Pep Guardiola’s side were under pressure for much of the first half as Chelsea found a way to counterattack them. Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson both had chances, but they failed to make it count. Despite this, the Cityzen’s dominated the second half and created chance after chance.
Pep Guardiola’s substitutions were spot on, as Jeremy Doku played a key role in Bernardo Silva’s goal. As much as they tried, the Blues were unable to equalize.
