New team ups, new heroes, maps and more
Marvel Rivals is on a hot streak right now with many Esports Organizations joining the esports scenario one by one. The fans are currently enjoying the season 1.5 and the leaks & rumors about season 2 have already started to make some noise.
In a recent interview with PC Gamer, the game director Guangyun Chen revealed some information about the upcoming seasons and their development. Let’s check out more details in this article.
The Director’s confidence: Everything’s on track
Game Director Guangyun Chen isn’t worried about the upcoming seasons. In his recent interview with PC Gamer, he said, “We’ve poured resources into new characters, maps, modes, and more. Season 2 is locked and loaded, and Seasons 3 and 4 designs are done—development’s in full swing. Everything’s progressing smoothly.”
It’s a good thing that they are already prepared for the upcoming seasons in advance. So far, we have also seen them releasing patch notes and balance updates on time and always listening to what fans want and trying to say about Marvel Rivals.

Team-Ups: The secret weapon
The team-up system could be the ace up NetEase’s sleeve. Sure, combos like Storm’s Flame Tornado or Punisher’s Rocket-fueled frenzy are bonkers, but they also prop up weaker heroes. Chen promises new team-up skills in Season 2, blending them with balance patches to refresh the meta each season. He also talked about Wolverine using Magik’s portal and previous team ups from the beta.
Balanced game?
Marvel Rivals isn’t about perfect balance. With no role queue and a big launch roster, it leans toward controlled mayhem.
Luna Snow and Cloak and Dagger’s ults offer near-immortality, Storm enhances her crew with no cooldowns, and Punisher’s damage is very terrifying. Nonetheless, it rarely feels unfair; everyone is a powerhouse. Jeff the Land Shark’s game-swallowing ult isn’t even the most dangerous trick in the book!
Chen’s emphasis is not on nitpicking balance, but on having fun: “We’re chasing mechanics that shake up environments and narratives that fuel Marvel fantasies.” Still, they’re not completely abandoning balance—win rates, pick rates, and community feedback influence their adjustments.
