Farming Gems!

In the new RuneScape Dragonwilds, Opals are a highly demanding, rare and valuable gemstone which are essential for crafting powerful gear, like the Bronze Shortbow and Longbow.

Just to let you know that this weapon already surpasses the early-game Ash Shortbow. But finding this gem ain’t that easy.

Don’t worry, in this article, we will show the best way to get the Opals easily in the game for your epic adventure.

How to farm Opals?

Now, this gem drops randomly while mining boulders, deposits, or ore veins, such as Stone, Copper, Tin, or Iron.

But your luck must be good to get the drops. To increase your chances, concentrate on mining Tin and Copper on the Fractured Plains.

These lower-tier ores appear to produce Opals more frequently than higher-tier ones, such as Iron. Make sure to have a Bone Pickaxe to mine.

Do remember, Stone Pickaxe will be useless. You will be just wasting your time and efforts.

Upgrade Your Pickaxe

Some of the experienced players and streamers suggest that higher-tier pickaxes, like Bronze or Iron, may increase your chances.

Begin with a Bone Pickaxe built from Animal Bones, Ash Logs, and Leather, then progress to a Bronze Pickaxe by smelting Tin and Copper into Bronze Bars.

An Iron Pickaxe, which requires Iron Bars, could increase your chances.

Use Mining Skills and Spells

You should unlock the Gem Prospector perk at Mining Level 16 in RuneScape Dragonwilds. This will increase your chances when mining Tin or Copper.

You can also unlock the Rocksplosion spell (unlocked at Level 11, costing 15 Earth Runes and 5 Fire Runes) in RuneScape Dragonwilds.

This will let you blast multiple nodes at once, which will speed up the process greatly. The Detect Ore + Clay spell (Level 24) can direct and guide you to the nearby ore nodes, which saves time.

Some Tips

  • Avoid the Maximum Mining Level: A bug may reduce Gem drop rates at Mining Level 50. Use a lower-level character to farm Opals until this is fixed.
  • Persistence is key: Opal drops are sporadic, so mine widely on the Fractured Plains and be patient.

Opals are very crucial for farming the ranged weapons in RuneScape Dragonwilds. These upgrades dramatically increase your fighting prowess.

This makes Opal farming a top priority for gamers who want to tackle tougher adversaries in the Fractured Plains or beyond in RuneScape Dragonwilds.
