The FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2023 is scheduled to take place from December 5 to 16 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The world’s top 16 teams will take part in the forthcoming 13th edition of the tournament. The inaugural edition of the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup was won by Pakistan, who beat West Germany in the final (2-0) in 1979.
Argentina are the defending champion having won the previous edition in 2021 defeating Germany (4-2). Meanwhile, India finished a heartbreaking fourth position after losing to France in the third-fourth place playoff match.
India’s best results in the tournament have come in 2001 and 2016 when they clinched the championship after defeating Argentina (6-1) and Belgium (2-1) respectively. Germany are the most successful team in the tournament history having won the title a record six times followed by India and Argentina with two each. Pakistan and Australia have won remaining two editions.

The upcoming edition of the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2023 will take place from December 5 to 16 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

- Defenders: Shardanand Tiwari, Amandeep Lakra, Rohit, Sunil JoJo, Amir Ali
- Midfielders: Vishnukant Singh, Poovanna C B, Rajinder Singh, Amandeep, Aditya Singh
- Forwards: Uttam Singh (C), Aditya Lalage, Araijeet Singh Hundal (VC), Sourabh Anand Kushwaha, Sudeep Chirmako, Boby Singh Dhami
Groups and Format
A total of 16 teams have qualified for the FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup 2023 via various continental qualifiers. The top five teams from 2022 Euro Hockey Junior Championships, top two from Junior Oceania Cup, 2023 Junior Africa Cup, top three from Junior Pan American Championships, the Junior Asia Cup and the host nation have made it to the competition.
Teams have been divided into four groups each with each group consisting of four teams. The top two ranked teams from each group at the end of the pool stages will advance into the knockout rounds. The remaining teams will play the classification matches to determine their positions.
