PKL 11: Key battles to watch out for in Match 65, Dabang Delhi vs Gujarat Giants

Dabang Delhi and Gujarat Giants are having contrasting runs in PKL 11.

Dabang Delhi will play against Gujarat Giants in match 65 of the Pro Kabaddi League 11 (PKL 11). The match will be played at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex. Dabang Delhi comes into the match on a run of four matches unbeaten in the league, having secured wins against the likes of Bengal Warriorz Tamil Thalaivas and Bengaluru Bulls. 

They also drew a match against defending champions Puneri Paltan in their run. With this run, the Dabangs now have five wins, five losses, and a draw from 11 PKL 11 matches, and thus, they lie sixth on the league table with 32 points. They have a score difference of +5.

Gujarat Giants, on the other hand, have continued to struggle with just two wins from 10 matches so far in the league. Henceforth, they are at the bottom of the PKL 11 table. Gujarat Giants’ last win came against Bengal Warriorz when they beat them 47-28 courtesy of a 17-point raiding display by Guman Singh. Left corner Jitender Singh and all-rounder Himanshu secured six tackle points each in the match for the Adani Sports Line-owned franchise.

For the Giants to perform, they will need Guman Singh and Himanshu, the only two consistent performers on the team to do well. Raiders like Rakesh and Parteek will have to provide the necessary support and Sombir and Neeraj will have to fix the issues with their defence.

Dabang Delhi has depended a lot on Ashu Malik for the raiding points in PKL 11, given the absence of Naveen Kumar from the mat due to a knee injury. While the Naveen Express is very close to making a comeback on the mat, Delhi would still need more from the likes of Mohit Deswal and Vinay Virendra on a consistent basis.

Yogesh Dahiya vs Guman Singh

Yogesh Dahiya has been the most consistent performer in the defence of Delhi so far in PKL 11. The youngster has the second-most super tackles in the league while also featuring in the list of defenders with the most tackle points in the league so far, with 31 tackle points to his name. In total, the right corner has three high 5s.

Guman Singh is the most consistent performer of the Giants after a very nervy start to the PKL 11. The player has four Super 10s in the last six matches, showing everyone why Gujarat spent almost 2 crores to get the raider on their team.

Ashish Malik vs Himashu

Ashish Malik is the left corner of Dabang Delhi and has the second most tackle points for them in the league (21). Ashish has only one High 5 in the league though, and he would be targeting his second against a non-performing raiding lineup of Gujarat Giants.

It would be unfair to expect too much from Himanshu but the player has shown the ability that he can contribute however way the team needs him to. He has Super 10s and High 5s, both in the league and was one of the stars of the last win Gujarat Giants secured this PKL 11 season.

Ashu Malik vs Jitendra Yadav

The replacement of Fazal Atrachali, left corner Jitendra Yadav is the defender with the 12th most tackle points in the PKL 11. He has 28 tackle points in the league and starred for the Giants in the win against the Bengal Warriorz.

Ashu Malik is the top scorer through raids, with 128 points from 11 matches. He has 10 Super 10s from 11 matches, the most in the league. He will be Delhi’s go-to man for points as the defence of Delhi has not shown any signs of improvement yet.
