PKL 12: Randeep Dalal gives major update on Anup Kumar's absence

Patna Pirates move to 10th in the PKL 12 points table by thrashing UP Yoddhas.

Patna Pirates produced a composed all-round performance to defeat UP Yoddhas 36-28 in a tense contest in Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 (PKL 12). The three-time champions won their third match under new coach Randeep Dalal.

The Pirates must have taken a sigh of relief, but they have a lot of work to do in the remainder of the season to get their season back on track. Ayan Lohchab continued his outstanding form and notched up 15 raid points while Navdeep, Deepak Rathee, and Ankit Jaglan combined for 12 tackle points.

After the game, representatives from both teams addressed the media and shared their thoughts.

Patna Pirates

Thoughts on the game

Patna Pirates‘ new defence coach Randeep Dalal opened up about his thoughts on the game, “I have always believed that we have a strong team. The defenders performed really well today. Deepak made timely super tackles, and our captain, Ankit, is the best corner. It was a team effort, and Ayan is our super raider.”

On Ayan Lohchab’s performance

Randeep Dalal also spoke about Ayan Lohchab and said, “Ayan is the best among all the youngsters, and he is going to become a big star. He is mature, fit, and has all the skills to win matches single-handedly. UP Yoddhas have a strong defensive unit, and he performed really well against them.”

Update on Anup Kumar

Randeep Dalal also shared an update on the availability of Anup Kumar and said, “He has gone home for some personal reasons, and he will be back very soon. We will let you know when he arrives.”

UP Yoddhas

What went wrong?

UP Yoddhas’ assistant coach Upendra Malik opened up about what went wrong for his side and said, “We played well, but we couldn’t finish well yet again. The same mistake was made in the last match, and until we learn to finish, we won’t be able to win. We had many chances to inflict an all-out, but we couldn’t do it.”

Malik also added, “This has happened to UP Yoddhas a lot of times before. But, back then, we were settled in the initial stages. We should have continued our winning streak, and we even had the chance, but now time is running out, and we should not lose anymore.”

Have Patna Pirates & Anup Kumar parted ways mid-season?

According to rumours, Patna and head coach Anup have parted ways midway through PKL Season 12. However, neither the team nor Anup has confirmed this yet.

Who tops the PKL 12 points table?

Dabang Delhi holds the top spot at the end of Day 34 of PKL 12.
