Manchester United remain the top-ranked English club despite a dwindling phase in terms of on-field success but a continued strong presence commercially. Tottenham Hostpur (8) emerge as the richest London club ahead of Chelsea (9) and Arsenal (11) after a good performance in the UEFA Champions League and moving into their brand new state-of-the-art stadium. The combined revenue of the Top-20 clubs reached a record sum of €9.3bn. FC Barcelona reached the semi-finals of the Champions League and won the LaLiga for the eighth time in 11 years. But the secret to their ascension has been their first-hand control over merchandising and licensing operations, instead of outsourcing it to third parties. Interestingly, Premier League clubs continue to dominate financially with eight rank holders in the Top-20.
