GPL 2019-20: Sesa FA stun table toppers Sporting Goa
Domnic Soares scored the only goal of the game for the academy boys.
Sporting Goa suffered a dent in their Goa Professional League campaign as they faced a narrow 1-0 defeat against Sesa FA at Sesa Academy Ground on Tuesday afternoon.
Alton Vaz was the only change in the Sporting side which defeated FC Goa in the last match. Compare to the Sporting side, Sesa FA, who defeated Velsao SCC in the previous encounter had three changes to their side as keeper Sapam Singh, Mark Barreto and Shridharnath Gawas were back in the lineup.
After a series of attacks, Sporting came close to scoring in the 13th minute when Marcus Mascarenhas made a low cross to Philip Odogwu in the box, however, the Nigerian striker was unlucky as his strike was rebounded off of the goalpost.

At the other end, the Academy Boys took 25 minutes to create their first potent chance of the match as Shajam P made an attempt at the goal inside the box, however, Sporting Clube de Goa custodian Melroy Fernandes stretched to his limit to push the goalbound shot for a corner.
Sporting Clube de Goa had a few more opportunities to take the lead but aimless shots from Philip, Marcus and Peter Carvalho restricted the scoreline at the halftime.

However, similar to the first half, Philip and Marcus failed to keep their strikes on target. Substitute striker Akeraj Martins, who replaced U-20 player Dattaraj Gaonkar, also failed to capitalize on few occasions.
At the other end, Sesa FA stunned the rivals as they took the lead in the 71st minute when Domnic Soares' long range attempt found the back of the nets, making it 1-0 for his side.
In the dying minutes of the match, Sporting Goa had a golden chance to equalize against Sesa FA when Stendly Fernandes sent a perfect cross to Marcus in the box, but the forward headed wide to miss the attempt.
