Pooja Ojha is India’s only remaining participant at Paris Paralympics 2024.

India’s hunt for medals continued on Saturday (Day 10) as well with para-athletes winning multiple medals at Paris Paralympics 2024. In the women’s 200m T12 race, Simran Sharma won a bronze medal. In the men’s javelin throw event, India was expected to clinch another gold as Navdeep was leading the table. But Iran’s Sadegh Beit Sayah threw a massive 47.64m to shatter the Paralympic record and take the gold

However, in a sudden twist of events, Sadegh was disqualified for misconduct and the gold medal was awarded to Navdeep, who had initially finished with silver. Navdeep’s gold was India seventh gold medal in this edition of the Paralympics and took the nation’s tally to 29 medals. It helped India jump to 16th position in the overall medal tally with one final day of action remaining.

Para cyclists and Para canoeists tried hard to finish on the podium but ended in disappointments. Arshad Shaik and Jyoti Gaderiya tried their best to move ahead in the race, but both finished a lap behind the race leader and were not ranked. Yash Kumar also ended as a wooden spooner in the semifinals in the Men’s Kayak Single 200m race. Let’s look at the probable stars on Sunday who will get closer to history.

India’s challenge for a medal from the Paralympics on the waters will be carried by Pooja Ojha. She will be competing in the Women’s 200m Kayak Singles event. The 24-year-old had won India’s first-ever medal in the Canoe Sprint World Championship in 2022.

Earlier this year, the girl from Madhya Pradesh had won Silver in the World Championships. Pooja had a fear of water in her early years, and she overcame it to become a champion. India would rely on that mental strength to get another Paralympic medal.
