India could add at least five more medals to its tally on Day 7 of Paris Paralympics 2024.

On Monday, India created history by recording its best ever day in any edition of the Paralympics or Olympics. A day later, the nation achieved its best-ever medal tally at the Paralympics or Olympics after bagging five medals on Day 6 to take its tally to 20 medals, one better than the previous best tally achieved in Tokyo in three years ago.

Wednesday (Day 7) could be equally big for India as they aim to add more medals to its tally and climb up the medal standings. Having already made the Paris Paralympics 2024 the successful Paralympic campaign for the nation in the event’s history, India will have an opportunity to add as many as 11 more medals on September 4 (Wednesday). Many athletes will be in action for a place on the podium on day 7 of the quadrennial event.

The previous day saw India add five more medals to its tally to take it to 20 and climb up to 19th position in the medal table. The day started with Avani Lekhara reaching the women’s 50m Rifle 3P SH1 finals, but she finished fifth failing to defend her bronze from Tokyo. Debutant Deepthi Jeevanji won India’s first medal of the day by clinching bronze in women’s 400m T20 event. India then bagged double podium finishes in both men’s high jump T63 and men’s javelin throw F46 events.

Sharad Kumar converted his Tokyo bronze to silver in men’s high jump T63 while Mariyappan Thangavelu took bronze, having won silver in the event three years ago. This was Mariyappan’s third medal at the Paralympics, making him only second Indian para athlete after Devendra Jhajharia to win medals in three consecutive editions.

Let’s look at the athletes who will look to create history for India on Wednesday (Day 7).
