Top five players who have withdrawn from ATP Dubai Tennis Championships 2025

Many top-ranked players will miss the ATP Dubai Tennis Championships 2025.
Back-to-back tennis events will mean a heavy workload for players. The ATP Qatar Open recently crowned Andrey Rublev, who will now head to Dubai for the ATP Dubai Tennis Championships 2025. The competition clashes with the ATP Mexico Open, and hence many were forced to decide between the two events
Many including World Number 2 Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, Holger Rune, and more have opted for an early start to the clay court season. However, the Dubai event will have no shortage of events, with US Open winner Daniil Medvedev set to enter the tournament as the top seed.

Alex de Minaur is seeded second, alongside defending champion Ugo Humbert, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, and Arthur Fils. However, there are some prominent names missing from the list.
5. Jordan Thompson
After missing the ATP Qatar Open, Jordan Thompson will also miss the Dubai event. Since the conclusion of the Australian Open, Thompson announced he would take a break from tennis because of struggles with a calf strain. Since then, there has been no update from the Australian player regarding his return to tennis. Roberto Bautista Agut from Spain has been announced as Thompson’s replacement.

4. Jack Draper
Jack Draper missed the ATP Rotterdam Open after an underwhelming Australian Open. However, he had an improved campaign in Qatar where he finished as a finalist. The British Number One would have been disappointed to fall short of the title, as he lost to Andrey Rublev in the final.
While he was to start in Dubai as the seventh seed, he took to X (previously known as Twitter) announcing his withdrawal from the competition.
3. Carlos Alcaraz
Carlos Alcaraz already has one title, which he won at the ATP Rotterdam event. However, the Spaniard has suffered disappointments at the Australian Open and Qatar Open. In his Doha debut, Alcaraz was the top seed and looked poised for a maiden Qatar title.
However, despite being in control of the match, his shocking quarterfinal defeat to Jiri Lehka shocked everyone. With tournaments happening almost every week, Alcaraz chose to skip the Dubai event to manage his workload and focus on key upcoming events like the Miami Open and the Italian Open.

2. Jannik Sinner
Jannik Sinner is still away from tennis action as he is facing a three-month ban from WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency). The Italian is suspended from the ATP Tour until May 4th after his team successfully settled with the agency’s judgment.
The resolution of Sinner’s case before the appeal hearing scheduled at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in April was not well received as many retired and current players aimed the association for its decision. Current World Number One is expected to return just in time for the Italian Open (ATP 1000) in Rome, played in May.

A straight-set loss meant the 37-year-old’s comeback was short-lived. During the post-match press conference, the Serbian said that he had no injury problems. However, the visuals of Djokovic limping on his way to the Doha airport suggest otherwise.
Many suspect that the 24-time Grand Slam champion has suffered another calf injury, which could rule him out of the upcoming Miami and Italian Opens. Although there has been no official confirmation as to why Djokovic will miss the Dubai Championships, the World Number Seven could potentially be ruled out of the event due to a heavy workload coupled with injury concerns.
