India vs Sweden, Davis Cup World Group I Tie: Live streaming, TV channel, where and how to watch?
India will be missing their top-ranked players against Sweden in Davis Cup World Group I tie.
The Davis Cup 2024 will see the beginning of matches in World Group I. India will be clashing against hosts, Sweden at The Royal Tennis Hall, Stockholm. There are 24 nations competing in 12 ties and the winners will play in the qualifiers next season. A loss would mean competing in the 2025 World Group I playoffs.
While India are without the services of their top players, the younger stars would hope to fill their shoes. Sumit Nagal’s absence will surely have an impact on the team, but N. Sriram Balaji and Ramkumar Ramanathan could turn the tables against Sweden.
India will hope to secure wins in singles as the doubles pair of N Sriram Balaji/Ramkumar Ramanathan can use their experience to secure a vital point. On the other side of the court, Sweden’s Elias Ymer will be leading the attack in singles. Filip Bergevi/Andre Goransson will be on duty in doubles. Leo Borg will also seek a crucial singles win in the tie.
Sweden are the favourites with their head-to-head advantage and higher rankings. The third-seeded nation could suffer an upset if the singles ties go out of hand.
India had last lost a tie in February 2023 against Denmark and since then have registered convincing wins against Pakistan, Morocco. This time, India will be up against Sweden on their home turf. It will be the first time that India will face Sweden on a hard court.
It will be the sixth Davis Cup meeting between India and Sweden. India have won two matches in five meetings against Sweden. Vijay Amritraj defeated Mats Wilander in the fourth match during the 1985 Davis Cup. After three decades, Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes scored a four-set victory over Simon Aspelin and Jonas Bjorkman in the 2005 Davis Cup.
