Jannik Sinner vs Carlos Alcaraz final prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: Wimbledon 2025

Jannik Sinner to play maiden Wimbledon final against two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz.

Two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz will face arch-rival and World No. 1 Jannik Sinner in the title match at Wimbledon 2025 on Sunday.

Alcaraz will play his third consecutive Wimbledon final, a milestone he achieved by overcoming the challenge of Taylor Fritz 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6(6). The Spaniard took two hours and 49 minutes to move up to 3-0 against Fritz in their head-to-head.

In the second semi-final, World No. 1 Sinner defeated Novak Djokovic in straight sets. This is Sinner’s second straight victory over the seven-time Wimbledon champion. Djokovic sustained an injury late in the quarter-final match against Flavio Cobolli, and his movements were hampered against Sinner.

The Italian posted a comfortable 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 victory over the 38-year-old Djokovic to book passage into his maiden Wimbledon final. It took less than two hours for the top seed to sweep aside Djokovic, who was playing a record 14th semi-final at SW19.

The Serb briefly broke away from Sinner to take a 3-0 lead in the third set, but the Italian quickly regrouped, winning the next five games to bring himself back into the set.

Preview

Alcaraz is on a career-best 24-match winning streak, going back to his Rome title run. That uninterrupted run was nearly brought to an end by Sinner at Roland Garros. But Alcaraz survived three championship points and scripted a 4-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(3), 7-6(2) victory against the World No. 1.

The duo has monopolised the Grand Slam events since the start of the 2024 season, splitting the six majors equally. Alcaraz and Sinner have won eight Grand Slams between them, with the Spaniard on five. Alcaraz will aim to improve to 6-0 in major finals. He is currently second only to Roger Federer, who is 7-0 in Grand Slam title rounds.

Sinner survived a scare against Grigor Dimitrov in the fourth round but made it through to the last eight after the Bulgarian retired. Alcaraz saw off Fabio Fognini in a scrappy five-set win over the unseeded Italian in the opening round. Other than that, the two contenders have not made many mistakes in the run-up to the final, where they will renew their rivalry.

Match prediction

Sinner will look to avenge the loss to Alcaraz at Roland Garros last month. The Italian had all but won the trophy when Alcaraz pulled off a stunning reversal when facing three championship points. The Spaniard is 5-0 against Sinner since the beginning of the 2024 season and 2-0 against the Italian since his title run in Rome.

Their previous and only meeting at Wimbledon took place in 2022, which Sinner won in four sets. The pair will resume their rivalry on the iconic Centre Court at Wimbledon on Sunday when they clash for their third final of the season.

Alcaraz upended the fairly even rivalry with Sinner since the 2024 Indian Wells semi-finals. That event marked the beginning of a five-match winning streak against the World No. 1. The two-time defending Wimbledon champion Alcaraz will be the favourite to lift the trophy for the third straight year.

While we may not get to witness the spectacle that was the 2025 French Open final, their presence in yet another final is a treat in itself. There is no doubt the fans are in store for some terrific tennis.

Fate played a hand in Sinner’s progression to the final when Dimitrov retired while leading the Italian two sets to nil. The World No. 1 was fortunate to cross paths with an injured Djokovic in the last four.

Though Alcaraz is prone to peaks and valleys in his game, he reserves his best for Sinner, and grass is his best surface by winning percentage. The No. 2 seed is peaking at the right time and has played his best tennis on crucial points. Alcaraz has more experience at the venue and will have the psychological edge over the Italian with his stunning comeback victory in Paris.

Result: Alcaraz will win in four sets.
