Jannik Sinner vs Carlos Alcaraz final prediction, betting tips & odds, head-to-head, preview: US Open 2025

Jannik Sinner came from a set down to beat Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final.

Carlos Alcaraz overcame Novak Djokovic 6-4, 7-6(4), 6-2 in two hours and 25 minutes at the Arthur Ashe Stadium to reach his seventh major final and second in New York. The 22-year-old avenged his loss to Djokovic at the Australian Open earlier this year and the 2024 Paris Olympics, improving to 4-5 in their head-to-head.

In 2022, the Spaniard won the US Open as a 19-year-old to become the second youngest singles champion in US Open history. Back in the finals after a three-year gap, Alcaraz is the first man to make the title round without dropping a set since Roger Federer in 2015.

Carlos Alcaraz is yet to drop a set as he prepares to take on defending champion Jannik Sinner on Sunday. It is the third consecutive summit clash between the duo in the ongoing season, following Paris and London.

Sinner completed the job against Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the second semi-final to set up the inevitable summit clash with Alcaraz. The Italian brought up his 300th career win after defeating Auger-Aliassime and leveled their head at 2-2.

Aliassime slowed down Sinner on his path to victory, compelling the Italian to remain on court for three hours and 21 minutes before crossing the finish line.

The Canadian scripted a turnaround by claiming the second set 6-3 after winning just one game in the opening set.

However, it was not his day as the top seed once again seized the advantage in the third and fourth sets when Aliassime spoiled his chances with 22 unforced errors and three double faults across the final two sets.

Preview

It will be a winner-takes-all match when Alcaraz and Sinner face off in the final on Sunday. Along with the men’s singles trophy, the No. 1 spot in the ATP Rankings is at stake.

It will be the Spaniard’s flair against Sinner’s typical efficiency, and the fans at Flushing Meadows are in for a treat.

Both players have the numbers to back up their claim for the final Grand Slam title of the season. Alcaraz hasn’t put a foot wrong in New York so far and is 45-2 since his Monte-Carlo title run.

The Spaniard defeated Novak Djokovic for the first time on hard courts and marked his return to the US Open finals. It will also be Alcaraz’s eighth tour-level final on the trot since Monaco.

Sinner, meanwhile, is on a 27-match winning streak at hard court majors. The Italian is on track to win his fourth straight Grand Slam singles title on hard courts after the Australian Open (2024, 2025) and the US Open (2024) title runs.

The top-seed will be vying to become the first man to defend his crown since Roger Federer in 2008.

It has been a revolving door of US Open men’s singles champions ever since Federer won the last of his titles in New York, making it a 25-year gap without a repeat winner. The Swiss great won five in a row between 2004 and 2008.

Match prediction

Fans inside the Arthur Ashe Stadium will get to witness a third consecutive Grand Slam final between the two best tennis players at the moment, Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.

A blockbuster US Open final is very much on the cards when the two top-seeds square off with nothing less than the World No. 1 position on the line.

Alcaraz leads their head-to-head 9-5. The Spaniard will be itching for revenge after Sinner denied him the Wimbledon title in July.

Unlike Sinner, who dropped two sets en route to the final, Alcaraz has yet to experience the same. Sinner dropped a set each against Denis Shapovalov (third round) and Felix Auger-Aliassime (semi-finals).

Alcaraz enjoys a 6-2 lead over Sinner in their head-to-head record on hardcourts. The Spaniard had dominated Sinner since the beginning of the 2024 season, with a 6-1 record against the World No. 1.

Yet, Sinner has exceptional hard-court numbers in 2025 at 12-1, even though it appears that he has never quite solved the Alcaraz riddle. The sole loss came at Cincinnati when the Italian retired in the title round against his Spanish rival.

With Alcaraz reserving his best for Sinner, it’s an easy choice to back the Spaniard to come out on top in their latest installment of their rivalry.

Result: Carlos Alcaraz to win in four sets.
