Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi made her Grand Slam main draw debut at the US Open 2025.

New Indian sensation Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi enjoyed a winning start at the US Open 2025 Girls’ Singles Junior event, reaching the second round on Sunday.

The 16-year-old from Coimbatore, who trains at the Rafael Nadal Academy in Mallorca, Spain, defeated China’s Zhang-Qian Wei 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 in just over an hour and a half. Next up for Maaya is second-seeded Hannah Klugman of the United Kingdom.

Earlier this year, Maaya tried her luck at Wimbledon Juniors 2025. Unfortunately, she was knocked out in the second qualifying round. However, at the US Open she made her Grand Slam main draw debut.

Meanwhile, on the junior boys’ side, Hitesh Chauhan lost 2-6, 4-6 to American Jerrid Gaines Jr, while Krish Tyagi went down 3-6, 1-6 to Sweden’s Ludvig Hede. Both will now focus on the doubles events, keeping their tournament hopes alive.

In the senior men’s doubles, India had some bright moments. Anirudh Chandrasekar and Vijay Sundar Prashanth pulled off a big upset by beating American eighth seeds Evan King and Christian Harrison in the first round.
