Novak Djokovic will be playing at his fifth Olympics.
The tennis committee of Serbia has confirmed that Novak Djokovic will participate at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Compatriot Dusan Lajovic will accompany Djokovic in the men’s singles event at the Paris Olympics. The 24-time Grand Slam champion withdrew from the 2024 French Open quarterfinals, where he was going to face Casper Ruud. Djokovic revealed that he had been suffering from a minor knee issue for a long time.
However, the issue flared during his match against Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo in the fourth round at the 2024 Roland-Garros. After further scans, it was revealed that the Serb had a torn medial meniscus in his right knee. A day after suffering the injury, Djokovic underwent surgery for the meniscus tear in his right knee.
After a week of surgery, the Serbian tennis star was spotted walking without crutches as he arrived in Belgrade. As per several reports, Novak Djokovic is expected to miss at least three weeks of action. Thus, he could potentially miss the 2024 Wimbledon Championships.
However, no official confirmation has been given by the seven-time Wimbledon champion about his participation. Despite his injury, it’s been confirmed that tennis enthusiasts will get to see the Serb at the upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics.

The Serbian committee said on its website, “Novak Djokovic and Dusan Lajovic have fulfilled the conditions according to ATP ranking and confirmed their participation at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris 2024.”
Novak Djokovic won a bronze medal in the men’s singles event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. However, since then, the Serb has failed to win any other top accolade at the sporting megafest. At the 2012 London Olympics, he was Serbia’s flag-bearer at the opening ceremony; however, he fell short of winning a medal.
Thus, in 2024, Novak Djokovic might play at his last Olympics and he’s keen to win the prestigious gold medal. The Serb has also dubbed the Olympic gold medal the ‘fifth Grand Slam.’ Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, and Andy Murray are also confirmed for singles action at the upcoming Olympics.
