Top five title favourites in men's singles at Cincinnati Open 2025

4. Taylor Fritz

After excelling in the grass season by winning the Stuttgart Open and the Eastbourne Open, Taylor Fritz has struggled to assert his dominance in the North American swing. After a quarter-final exit in the Citi Open against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, he lost to Ben Shelton in the Canadian Open.

Nevertheless, the fourth seed have the potential to bounce back and is expected to make a stronger comeback with eyes set on the Cincinnati Open title.

The 27-year-old has played 45 matches this season, winning 32 and losing 13. Moreover, he also reached the final of the 2024 US Open, where he lost to Jannik Sinner.

3. Ben Shelton

Ben Shelton, who seems to be picking up the form in the North American swing, can win the Masters title in Cincinnati. The 22-year-old hasn’t won any titles this season and has fallen short by the slightest of margins.

He lost to Jannik Sinner in the Wimbledon Championships quarter-finals before coming up short against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the Citi Open.

However, Shelton has showcased his hard-court expertise and potential in the Canadian Open. The American tennis star has played his best tennis on the hardcourt, and he can finally achieve success in Ohio. Seeded fourth, the 22-year-old has received a bye in the first round of the Cincinnati Open.

2. Carlos Alcaraz

After a tough loss in the Wimbledon final, Carlos Alcaraz announced his withdrawal from the 2025 Canadian Open. Alcaraz also missed last year’s Canadian Open due to fatigue from the 2024 Paris Olympics and later lost to France’s Gael Monfils in the second round of the Cincinnati Open.

However, the five-year Grand Slam champion will have a great opportunity to close Sinner’s lead in the ATP rankings by winning the Masters title.

The reigning US Open champion, Jannik Sinner, is the top favourite to win the 2025 Cincinnati Open. The Italian tennis star has been in commendable form across all surfaces this season.

Sinner will play his first game at the Cincinnati Open 2025 after missing the 2025 Canadian Open. In his last match, he recorded a historic triumph over five-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz.

With only three losses in 29 games this year, Sinner has won two Grand Slams. Last year, he defeated the USA’s Frances Tiafoe in the Cincinnati final to win the 1000 Masters. Considering his current form, the 23-year-old would be tough to beat by any other player on the tour.
