When was last time both French Open finalists also played Wimbledon final in men's singles?

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner will meet in the final of Wimbledon 2025, just as they met in the French Open final.
For a second consecutive Grand Slam final, World No. 1 Jannik Sinner will meet World No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz, after both players advanced to the title match at Wimbledon 2025. Sinner breezed past Novak Djokovic in straight sets, while Alcaraz had to work harder to see of American Taylor Fritz in the semis.
Alcaraz, a two-time defending champion at the grass court major, will start the final as a favourite not only due to his past success at Wimbledon but also because of his superior head-to-head record against the ATP No. 1. The 22-year-old leads his Italian counterpart 8-4 in h2h records, which includes victory in the French Open marathon match earlier this year.
Sinner though will not be bothered by that. He has won their only past meeting at Wimbledon, which came in 2022 last 16 although Alcaraz is ahead 3-1 in Grand Slam meetings.
Even before the tournament began, Alcaraz was a heavy favourite to claim the title, and he has shown in his previous two matches why he is rated so high.
Entering on the back of three consecutive title triumphs, including Roland Garros, Alcaraz is hoping for a three-peat at SW19. He started slowly, being stretched to five sets in the first round, but with every passing round, he became an improved player.

Unlike Alcaraz, Sinner may not be an outright favourite at the Centre Court on Sunday. But he has reached the final of all—but one—events that he has played this season, albeit winning just one and losing the other two to Alcaraz. So, Sinner will eye revenge. he has already halted Djokovic from reaching seven consecutive finals at Wimbledon.
The next task at hand is stopping Alcaraz from lifting a third consecutive title at the grass court major. And one can bet, that the 23-year-old will throw everything at his Spanish rival.
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal met each other in both the French Open and Wimbledon finals
The last time both French Open finalists played in the Wimbledon final in men’s singles was in 2008. History is being repeated. Adent tennis fans will remember the match Federer-Nadal served at the Centre Court of London that year.
Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer met each other for three consecutive years in the finals of both Grand Slams. In 2006 and 2007, it was the Spaniard who denied the Swiss legend his maiden title in Paris, but Federer kept returning the favour when they met at the grass court Slam.
However, 2008 was the breakthrough year. Nadal defended his crown for the fourth straight time at Roland Garros, and beat Federer in straight sets, including a bagel in the final set.
History was created at SW19, though, by the Spaniard who ended Federer’s streak of five straight triumphs at Wimbledon. It was one of the greatest Grand Slam finals ever, with Nadal winning the first two sets, dropping the next two in tight tiebreaks, before clinching the decider 9-7 in the fifth set.
That last para will certainly interest Sinner who will be out to stop a similar streak. Just a month ago at Roland Garros, the two delivered a breathtaking display of tennis, showcasing their skill, athleticism, and mental toughness, setting the stage perfectly for another unforgettable battle at Wimbledon.
