The sport has witnessed many players end their careers with several ATP titles but no major Grand Slam trophies, while some youngsters win slams even before turning 25.

10. Stefan Edberg

Six-time Grand Slam champion, Stefan Edberg reached his tenth quarterfinal at the 1989 Australian Open. Edberg is one of the few players who reached the final of all four Grand Slam tournaments. The Swedish icon reached his first ever QF at the 1984 Australian Open and since then, won twice in every Grand Slam major barring the Roland Garros.

9. Andy Roddick

Andy Roddick, one of America’s best-ever tennis players, won just one Grand Slam at the 2003 US Open. He first qualified for the quarterfinals at the 2001 US Open, and four years later at the Wimbledon championship, he made his tenth Grand Slam QF appearance.

8. Pete Sampras

A legend of the sport, Pete Sampras is a 14-time Grand Slam singles title holder and has seven Wimbledon titles, two Australian Open, and five US Open titles to his name. Between 1997 and 2001, the American star embarked on a remarkable streak of 31 consecutive victories.

Sampras played his first QF at the 1990 US Open, which also proved to be his first Grand Slam win. Pete Sampras advanced to his 10th quarter-final at the Australian Open in 1994, which he eventually won.

7. Andrea Agassi

Eight-time Grand Slam winner, Andrea Agassi, won all four Grand Slam titles including four Australian Open trophies. In 1988, Agassi reached his first quarter-final at the Roland Garros and eventually ended as the semi-finalist. The American repeated a similar performance at the 1988 US Open. Andrea Agassi’s tenth quarterfinal was at the US Open 1992 competition.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion, Novak Djokovic is the greatest ever to have played at the Australian Open with a record ten titles under his belt. The Serbian’s rise coincided with a streak of Grand Slam wins shared by Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Djokovic reached his first quarter-final at the Roland Garros in 2006, with his tenth QF appearance at the US Open in 2009, where he finished as a semi-finalist.

The King of Clay, Rafael Nadal dominated the Garros like nobody else, winning 14 French Open titles. Tennis will be known for his battles against Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, with the Spaniard being remembered for his never-say-die attitude.

Nadal made the quarterfinals for the first time at the 2005 French Open and eventually became champion in Paris. This victory embarked on a glorious run for Nadal at the clay major. The 2008 Wimbledon competition witnessed him advance to his 10th QF, which was his first-ever triumph in London.

4. Bjorn Borg

Bjorn Borg held the record as the youngest male tennis player of the Open era to complete a Channel Slam, lasting four decades. The 1978 French Open marked the Swedish icon’s tenth quarterfinal clash, which he eventually won. Borg triumphed six times at the French Open and five times at Wimbledon.

3. Boris Becker

Boris Becker made his breakthrough in 1988, after finishing as a runner-up twice, in 1985 and 1986, against Ivan Lendl. Becker later won two more titles in 1992 and 1995. Interestingly, Becker has played eight season-end finals, the fourth highest in history. The German featured in his tenth QF battle in 1989 during the US Open.

Carlos Alcaraz, the youngest male tennis player to win the Roland Garros and Wimbledon Championships, entered the elite list by becoming the second youngest player to feature in 10 quarter-finals, after beating Jack Draper in the fourth round of the Australian Open 2025. In his quest for a career slam, Alcaraz fell short, losing to Djokovic in a swashbuckling contest.

1. Mats Wilander

Mats Wilander is the youngest man in tennis history to have played 10 QFs, reaching this significant milestone at the Australian Open in 1985. In the same year, Wilander won the French Open. The Swedish legend ended his career with three Roland Garros, three Australian Open, and one US Open title.
