WWE Backstage report on LWO & Santos Escobar Split

At the Crown Jewel fall-out episode of WWE SmackDown, Santos Escobar got blamed by Carlito for helping Logan Paul attack Rey Mysterio with the Brass knuckles, following which tensions raised internally within LWO. Following that Escobar turned on Rey Mysterio, but hurting his bad leg, which made him undergo surgery. The following week on SmackDown, Escobar officially announced that he is done with Rey Mysterio and LWO and attacked Joaquin Wilde and Cruze Del Toro.

The Carlito vs Escobar match at Survivor Series was announced and following the assault of Escobar earlier today on SmackDown, Carlito was replaced by Dragon Lee, who saved Carlito from Escobar breaking his arm. The sudden heel turn of Santos Escobar and the LWO split got the attention of many, and the actual plans of the LWO split is now revealed.

Escobar’s team mates and feud with LWO revealed

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the actual plans of the LWO split was to make Juaquin Wilde and Cruze Del Toro to stick with Santos Escobar to re-establish themselves as Legado Del Fantasma, and take on Rey Mysterio, Carlito and a third person. It was speculated that Dragon Lee might be the third person (It is now almost confirmed that he is taking the spot, based on the recent episode of SmackDown).

However the plans changed as Garzas was the one scheduled to join Escobar at the point replacing Del Toro and Wilde. There is also a speculation that Elektra Lopez might join Escobar and have a feud with Zelina Vega, although it was not confirmed.

Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported,

“Regarding the LWO split, the original idea was for Wilde & Del Toro to stay with Escobar and feud with Rey & Carlito & a third person. From TV that would make sense to be Dragon Lee, as the idea of Lee being the guy they are hoping can be a future Mysterio-style flying so aligning them doing the endorsement thing would make sense.

The Garzas are the ones who are scheduled at this point to replace Wilde & Del Toro on the Escobar side. There’s speculation of Lopez, who was with Escobar in NXT, being on that side to feud with Vega but that is not at all confirmed.”

Escobar is now set to take on Dragon Lee at Survivor Series WarGames 2023, which is hours away from now. Will Escobar reveal his new teammates on the Survivor Series? We need to wait and watch.
