Rock & Roman challenge Cody & Seth, Rey Mysterio returns, Dakota Kai betrayed Bayley and much more!
The March 01, 2024 episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown is officially over and it is one of the must watch episodes of SmackDown in recent times. This week’s SmackDown sets the hype for WrestleMania 40, as a lot of things happened which lays foundation for the greatest show. Get to know what happened on SmackDown as we came out with the complete summary, highlights, results and grades for the show.
WWE SmackDown Summary & Highlights
The Rock, Roman Reigns & The Bloodline
Roman Reigns asked for Acknowledged from the WWE Universe, but Cody chants started poping right away. Roman asks Paul Heyman to fire up the jet and leave the arena. Heyman says they cannot leave as the People Champ comes next. It seems like Roman is not happy with the crowd and Rock. Heyman cuts for the commercial break.
The Rock arrived on SmackDown, and Cody chants were still popping. The Rock asks are they sure booing him. Rock has some good news. Glendale is 10 miles from Phoenix. He had some research and said that it is the #1 city for cocaine. The Rock says that their life finally has meaning.
The Rock says The Bloodline is in good mood and pro-wrestling is cool and electrifying because of The Rock, Roman Reigns & The Bloodline. Rock says that the only one not cool is Cody Rhodes. He then addresses Cody’s challenge and declined it. Rock says everyone wants to go one on one with him and every women in the arena.
The Rock says that Cody has the greatest match with the greatest champion, Roman Reigns and wants The Rock. Rock challenges Cody and Seth Rollins for a tag team match against him and Rock & Roman Reigns on WrestleMania Night 1. Rock lays stipulation stating that if Cody & Seth wins, his match with Roman Reigns on Night 2 is free from The Bloodline. If Rock & Roman wins on Night 1, it would be The Bloodline rules match.
Rock calls out Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins next week on SmackDown. If they don’t accept the challenge, The Rock will use all of his power to make Cody end his story in a tragic way. Rock says that he is the boss and no one can make rules for Rock.
The Rock went for his signature line, “If you smell….” but Roman stops him and asked for an Acknowledgement from The Rock. The Rock after some time acknowledged Roman Reugns as The Tribal Chief. Rock said, “If you smell” and Roman finishes with “what the Bloodline is cooking”.
Backstage
Austin Theory and Grayson Waller were watching the Men’s Elimination Chamber match on the phone, where LA Knight with a chair in his hands came looking for AJ Styles and left. Waller and Theory watching Orton hitting RKO on Logan Paul and Drew McInytre and getting knocked out by a brass knuckle. Orton caught them mocking him and asked them for a match. Orton vs Theory is set.
Naomi vs Tiffany Stratton
Tiffany takes Naomi with a shoulder tackle and Naomi takes her down with a back strike. Naomi sent Tiff to the corner and hit a drop kick. Tiff took Naomi to the apron, but Naomi kicks her to the head and drived face first to the ground.
After the commercial, Tiffy hit Naomi with a gymnastic splash to the corner and a double stomp to the shoulder. Naomi hit an innovative pedigree kind of a move on the Apron and a Spine burster inside the ring. Naomi drives Tiffy face first to the turnbuckle. Tiffy poked her eyes when referee is distracted and sent Naomi shoulder first to the ring post. Tiffy hit the prettiest moonsault ever to pull out the win.
Kabuki Warriors vs Bayley & Dakota Kai
Kabuki Warriors took Bayley down straight away with the team work. Asuka and Bayley starts the match, where Bayley went to taje control, but Kairi pushed her from the top rope. Bayley took both Asuka and Kairi, but Asuka pushed Bayley on Kai to send her out. Kabukki Warriors take total control of her with the double team.
Bayley takes down the Kabuki Warriors and went on to tag Kai, but Kai regrers to tag her. Bayley us fired uo and took all the three, but the numbers game played out. Asuka & Kairi locked Bayley’s hands, Kai slapped her and IYO hit a running knee to the back of the head.
Backstage
Damage CTRL was walking backstage, where Knight was searching for Styles. Jade Cargill confronted Damage CTRL and they had a quick face off, before Nick Aldis calls her for a contract talks.
Bron Breakker vs Xyon Quinn
Breakker speared Quinn for the win to squash him within seconds.
Street Fight- Carlito vs Santos Escobar
Both exchange strikes and Carlito took Escobar down. Carlito went to take the table on request by the WWE Universe. He went on to attack Escobar again and came to take apple on request, but Escobar took him down with a suicide dive.
After the commercial, Escobar put a trash can on Carlito’s head and hit him with the double knees. Carlito rolled out, where Escobar went for a suicide dive, but Carlito hit him with a steel chair to the head. Carlito put the trash can on Ecobar’s head and attacked him with a steel chair. Carlito hit Escobar face first to the steel chair, but not enough for the win.
Escobar took Carlito to the top of the rope, but Lito pushed him to the ropes hitting the groin. LDF came to attack Carlito and hit him with a triple powerbomb, Del Toro and Wilde came for the save, but LDF took them down.
While the LDF looks to break the table with Carlito, Rey Mysterio returned with walking sticks. Rey took both Humberto and Angel and went on to confront Escobar. Carlito spit the apple on Escobar’s face and hit a backstabber on him. Rey Mysterio hit a 619, Carlito hit a spine burster on Escobar to the tables for the win.
Backstage
Tyler Bate & Pete Dunne were asking to Nick Aldis about bringing the Tag Team Championship to SmackDown. They asked for a rematch at WrestleMania, but Aldis stopped him and said he and Pearce were discussing about the tag titles and will announce an important announcement soon.
Aldis went on to address LA Knight and asked what he is doing, Knight was searching for Styles and Aldis said that he asked Styles to stay in home. Knight said that he is even readg to take down Styles in his home. Nothing can stop him taking down Styles.
Randy Orton vs Austin Theory
Kevin Owens came to join the commentary desk. Randy Orton took down Austin Theory right away with strikes to the face and an European Uppercut. Orton hit ten punches to the face, hit an uppercut to send Theory outside the ring. Owens wanted Orton to hit a backdrop on the commentary table, but Waller pulled Theory out. Theory pushed Orton to the ring post and hit a backdrop on the commentary table to take control of the match.
After the commercial, Orton caught Theory on the top of the rope and delivered an overhead suplex. Orton took Theory out of the ring and hit back drop on Theory and Waller. Orton hit an elevated DDT on Theory and looks for a RKO, but Theory countered it by pushing Orton to the turnbuckles and with a Blockburster.
Theory hit Orton on the throat and hit elbow first on the face, but not enough. Theory mocked Orton’s DDT, but Orton escaped. Theory went for a rolling offense, but Orton hit him with an RKO on the mid-air for the win.
After the match, Waller attacked Orton from the back, where Owens went to counter him. Owens hit a stunner on Theory, Orton hit an RKO on Waller to end the show.

- The Rock & Roman Reigns challenged Cody Rhodes & Seth Rollins for a Tag Team match at WrestleMania Night 1.
- Tiffany Stratton defeated Naomi by pinfall.
- Dakota Kai betrayed Bayley and joined with IYO SKY & Kabuki Warriors.
