Kevin Owens has a history of betraying his friends in WWE
Kevin Owens is one of the most talented and charismatic wrestlers on the active WWE roster, who has been having a great run in the company since 2014. Owens is a nine-time champion in WWE and is the 16th Grand Slam Champion of the company.
Owens excelled both as a babyface and as a heel in his run and attained great success. Although KO is known for a number of things, one thing that remains common is the untrustworthy gimmick, as he has a history of betrayals in WWE. Here we take a look at the list of all the superstars Kevin Owens betrayed in WWE.
Sami Zayn
At NXT TakeOver R Evolution 2014, Sami Zayn challenged Adrian Neville for the NXT Championship in a title vs career match, where if Sami lost he would voluntarily leave NXT. Sami Zayn successfully defeated Neville to win the NXT Championship and celebrated with his best friend Kevin Owens. All of a sudden, Owens pushed Zayn on the entrance ramp and delivered a powerbomb on the apron to betray Zayn.
John Cena
At the 2015 Money in the Bank PPV, the NXT Champion Kevin Owens faced the United States Champion John Cena in a singles match to prove who is the better champion. Owens lost the match to Cena but gained a lot of respect from Cena and WWE fans. After the match, Cena showcased respect by offering his hand and lifting his hands. However, Owens kicked Cena out of the ring to deliver a powerbomb on the apron to turn his back on Cena.
Chris Jericho
On the February 13, 2017 episode of Monday Night Raw, Chris Jericho arranged a “Festival of Friendship” for his friendship with Kevin Owens. Jericho arranged it grand for Owens and showcased bromance. Owens presented Jericho with the KO list (counter for Jericho’s list), in which Jericho’s name was written at the top. When Jericho slowly realized, Owens jumped on Jericho and attacked him to turn his back.
Kofi Kingston
On the April 23, 2019 episode of SmackDown, when Big E was not on hiatus, Kevin Owens joined the New Day as an Honorary member “Big O”. Owens was in the New Day gear and helped Kofi Kingston. Owens backed up New Day in a battle against Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev in the post-match brawl. However, Owens superkicked Kofi and tore the New Day shirt to show his true colors. Owens revealed that the stunt was for the WWE Championship match and destroyed Woods and Kingston.
Cody Rhodes
Cody Rhodes and Owens had some misunderstandings over Cody teaming with Roman Reigns, however they remained to be friends. After the 2024 Bad Blood was over, Owens met Cody Rhodes in the parking lot, where they were involved in an argument and Owens attacked Rhodes to turn his back.
Randy Orton
After Owens betrayed Rhodes at Bad Blood, Randy Orton, who was a mutual friend of both tried to fix things on the October 11, 2024 episode of SmackDown. While stopping them from the brawl, Owens accidentally struck Orton in the face and Orton struck him back. Later on the same show, Owens attacked Orton for supporting Cody Rhodes.
