Everything that happened on WWE NXT (July 09, 2024): Joe Hendry returns

The 7/9 episode of WWE NXT opened the door for TNA stars!
WWE successfully hosted the June 09, 2024 episode of NXT from the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida, United States. This is the 2024 Heatwave fallout episode of WWE NXT and was filled with several interesting matches and segments. Get to know what happened on this week’s WWE NXT, as we come out with the complete show summary and results.
Ethan Page, Trick Williams, Shawn Spears & Je’Von Evans
Ethan Page kicked off this week’s NXT with the NXT Championship. He was so proud of himself, saying that it took him only six weeks to become the NXT Champion. He mocked the NXT Universe for hating him. Oro Mensah tried to attack him, but the security guards took him out. Page thanked Ava for banning Mensah at NXT Heatwave in Toronto. He promised that he wouldn’t allow outsiders to step here to ruin NXT because it is the Ego Era.
Trick Williams confronted him and asked for a rematch tonight for the NXT Championship. Page thanked him for delivering the Trick Shot on him, which helped him to win the NXT Championship. For the challenge Williams requested, he declined.
Shawn Spears confronted them and he lined himself up with Page, claiming that he wouldn’t be allowing Trick to challenge for the title. Je’Von Evans confronted them saying that he was so close to winning the title and asked for a rematch. The yellings turned into a brawl, with the baby faces standing tall
Arianna Grace vs Karmen Petrovic
The match began with trash-talking and both countering each other’s moves. Petrovic blocked Grace’s strikes and grounded her down. Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx interrupted them, marching their way to the ring. Karmen Grabs a Muta Lock & Arianna Grace struck back with back fist and elbow strikes. In the final moments of the match, Petrovic landed a kick on Grace to pick up the win. After the match, Fallon Henley came out of nowhere and attacked Karmen.
NXT Heritage Cup championship Match- Tony D’Angelo (C) vs Lexis King
Eddy Thorpe was on ringside to spectate the match. The first round ended with a lot of strikes and ended with no winners. In the second round, D’Angelo quickened his phase and picked up the first fall (1-0). In the third round, King delivered a running knee and a coronation for an equalizer (1-1). The fourth round was filled with several signatures and finishers, where Lexis King delivered the Coronation, but sooner, D’Angelo delivered a spinebuster for the win (2-1) to retain the NXT Heritage Cup.
Gallus vs Tyriek Igwe & Tyson Dupont
Gallus isolated Igwe and started attacking him. Dupont came to the ring and delivered a couple of suplexes and a big splash. However Coffey kicked out. Tyson is sent outside the ring and Wolfgang tags in. They delivered a Boot o’Doom on Igwe for the win.
Wes Lee’s announcement
Wes Lee addressed what happened on NXT Heatwave, as he lost his final title shot at the NXT North American Championship. Lee hints at stepping away from NXT, but The Rascalz (Try Miguel & Zachary Wentz) from TNA. They reunite inside the ring and ask Wes Lee to continue things and not to step off. They wanted to bring back the MSK and The Rascalz.
Izzi Dame vs Thea Hail
Thea Hail had the initial strikes with a number of kicks, elbow strikes and arm drags. Dame fought back with a takedown and STF. Paxley interrupted during the match and Thea took advantage. In the final moments of the match with a variety of offenses, she delivered a wrist lock for the win by submission.
OTM vs The OC
Nima & Gallows started the match with both exchange strikes, suplexes and roundhouse kicks. Anderson gets the tag, but OTM takes him in control. With the striking right hands, boots, and double spine buster, OTM picks up the win by pinning Karl Anderson.
Sol Ruca vs Fallon Henley
Ruca had the initial strike and Henley fought back. The match swung on both sides, and Sol Ruca was so close from the win, by delivering the X-Factor and Sol Snatcher. When going for the cover, Jacy Jayne & Jazmyn Nyx attacked Ruca and ended the match with a disqualification.
Ethan Page & Shawn Spears vs Trick Williams & Joe Hendry
Je’Von Evans was knocked out by Jenson Brooks earlier the same day backstage, which took him away from the match. As most thought it would be a handicap match, Joe Hendry appeared as the tag team partner of Trick Williams.
Page & Williams started the match, with Trick getting fired up with vicious strikes and tossing him. Page cut him off with a distraction and took advantage of Williams. However, Hendry got the tag and took Spears for a fireman carry and elbow strikes. In the final moments of the match, Oro Mensah popped out to chase Ethan Page out from the ringside. This gave Trick and Hendry a chance to take advantage over Spears. Trick hit the Trick Shot and Hendry delivered a Spinebuster for the win.
WWE NXT Results
- Karmen Petrovic defeated Arianna Grace by pinfall.
- Tony D’Angelo defeated Lexis King to retain the NXT Heritage Cup.
- Gallus defeated Tyriek Igwe & Tyson Dupont.
- Thea Hail defeated Izzi Dame by submission.
- OTM defeated The OC
- Sol Ruco defeated Fallon Henley by disqualification.
- Trick Williams & Joe Hendry defeated Ethan Page & Shawn Spears.
