Karrion Kross is all set to face Sami Zayn at WWE Night of Champions 2025

Karrion Kross is set to make his return to WWE Premium Live Events this Saturday at Night of Champions 2025 in Saudi Arabia. He will go one-on-one with Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn, marking his first PLE appearance since WrestleMania 40.

However, just days before the bout, Kross finds himself at the center of a swirling controversy regarding his in-ring style.

Veteran wrestling journalist Wade Keller of PWTorch recently suggested on his post-RAW podcast that Kross’ lack of consistent TV time and push on the main roster could stem from his unwillingness to take “flat back bumps.”

“Wrestlers are telling me when he gets to the main roster, nobody’s gonna put up with the fact that he doesn’t take bumps,” Keller said. “He’s scared to bump. He doesn’t flat back bump. I don’t know if he’s got an injury or a concern.”

According to Keller, the issue might go deeper than just hesitancy

“[Kross] favors one side, which can cause an injury, so I don’t know if he has a pre-existing condition or he’s just not comfortable taking bumps. I don’t know, I don’t have the inside story on that,” he explained.

Keller further stated that multiple wrestlers had pointed out the same issue to him over the years.

“But I know wrestlers who I chat with about things when I want wrestlers’ insight are like: ‘Oh right Wader you’re right when you say Karrion Kross won’t be a big star on the main roster, but one of the reasons you are missing out is just watch his next match. He just doesn’t really take bumps.’”

Producers push back against criticism & Karrion Kross responds

In response to these claims, Fightful Select issued a report after speaking with several WWE match producers who had worked with Kross. According to Fightful’s sources, the narrative that Kross avoids bumps has never been a problem backstage.

Producers of Kross’ matches reportedly stated that the rumor of him not taking flat back bumps has never been an issue they’ve encountered.

This contradicts the narrative floating online and paints a different picture of the former NXT Champion’s commitment inside the ring. Even Kross answered for the rumor saying,

“It’s not real. We’re just laughing about this. I feel bad that people are getting tricked. I’m perfectly healthy. I get it clickbait revenue.”

A Crucial Match for Karrion Kross

The match against Sami Zayn at Night of Champions will be pivotal for Kross, who is still looking for a defining main roster moment. A strong showing could silence critics and reaffirm his spot as a legitimate threat on RAW or SmackDown moving forward.
