The OTC made his return on the July 14 episode of WWE RAW!

During the closing moments of the July 14 episode of Monday Night Raw, ‘The OTC’ Roman Reigns made his return to aid CM Punk and Jey Uso against Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. Reigns was absent from WWE programming since the Raw episode after WrestleMania 41.

The July 14 episode of Monday Night Raw aired live from the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama, and featured the aftermath from last weekend’s Saturday Night’s Main Event and Evolution 2.

Roman Reigns made his return with a new nickname

Roman made his highly anticipated return, wearing a shirt with “OTC1” written on it, confirming the reports of his nickname change. In addition, to celebrate the occasion, WWE has released a new piece of merchandise for Roman Reigns‘ fans, the ‘Roman Reigns Tribal Chief Replica Championship’. The commemorative title is priced at $599.99.

The nickname change has been a fierce topic of discussion among fans; most of them hate the change, and a few are theorizing a trilogy clash against Cody Rhodes, whose nickname ‘QB1’ is similar to Roman’s new one.

Nevertheless, TC at WrestleVotes has revealed via his X (Twitter) handle that the nickname change to ‘OTC1′ was Reigns’ own idea. Replying to a fan who was ranting about the new nickname and the design, TC wrote, “Joe Anoa’i’s (Roman Reigns) idea.”

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that WWE’s original plan was to book Reigns against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam, but Rollins’ injury derailed that plan. Meltzer also stated that now it looks like the promotion could book Reigns vs Bron Breakker or Reigns & Jey Uso vs Breakker & Bronson Reed for the PLE.

Seth Rollins suffered a freak injury during his singles match against LA Knight at Saturday Night’s Main Event. He tweaked his knee during a spot when he was going for a moonsault from the ropes.

WWE is seemingly pivoting towards the same, as Breakker was given a lot of limelight during this week’s Raw, likely an immediate replacement for Rollins going into SummerSlam. Reigns not only aided Jey and Punk, but also embraced Jey, which might be the tease of a potential tag team.

Fans would now have to wait for the subequent shows to find out how this storyline is going to unravel since Reigns return.
