Kevin Owens has been dropping hints about a heel turn for weeks now on WWE television programming.

Kevin Owens has emerged as a top fixture for WWE television programming for almost a decade now. The Prizefighter has carved out an illustrious resume etched with multiple championships, accolades and even main eventing back-to-back WrestleMania in 2022 and 2023.

However, since the start of 2024, things have not been going the right way for Kevin Owens. He has been suffering a string of losses, been on the receiving end of massive beatdowns, especially by the new Bloodline and missing out on major opportunities. Most recently, he failed to dethrone Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE title at the WWE Bash in Berlin.

Also, KO has been dropping massive hints of a heel turn, most recently on SmackDown this week, when it seemed that he was about to strike Cody Rhodes with a steel chair. With evident signs, here are the top three reasons that a Kevin Owens heel turn is on the horizon:

3. Stale character

As mentioned, Kevin Owens‘ babyface run has been met with constant failures and beatdowns since the start of 2024. This, in turn, has made his character stale and garnered less reactions from the fans despite being featured in prominent storylines. WWE could switch to its heel side to change its trajectory, which can captivate the audience much like it has done over the last few years.

2. New feuds as the heel will have a better impact

Kevin Owens has displayed his heel side to the WWE Universe for years and played an excellent role as the villain of the story. Owens embracing the dark side could have a better impact on his current storylines, such as being the bad guy in a feud with the super babyface like Cody Rhodes. Moreover, this could also see new feuds with other top face stars to give a fresh creative direction to KO’s character and bring him back to prominence as a heel in front of the fans.

1. KO’s aggressive side fetched him massive success

As witnessed over the years, Kevin Owens’ run as a monster heel has fetched him massive success in terms of winning titles, accolades, and even his first WWE Universal Championship in 2016. Seeing that the aggressive side works for him better and WWE Universe paying close attention whenever he dropped teases of a heel turn in recent months, WWE could flip the deck and turn him into a heel moving forward soon.
