Roman Reigns is one of the biggest WWE superstars of all time!
Roman Reigns has battled countless legends during his dominant WWE run, but “The Tribal Chief” has revealed that one controversial and recently returned star stands above the rest as his all-time favorite opponent.
Speaking during a rapid-fire Q&A with ESPN’s TikTok, Roman Reigns didn’t hesitate when asked the question, naming Brock Lesnar.
“My whole career changed once I got in the ring with him,” Reigns admitted, reflecting on their long-standing rivalry that has spanned nearly a decade.
The rivalry that truly set Roman Reigns as the ‘Tribal Chief’

Reigns and Lesnar’s first clash came at WrestleMania 31 in March 2015, in a match that ended with Seth Rollins cashing in his Money in the Bank contract. That chaotic finish may have stolen the headlines, but the bout marked the beginning of one of WWE’s defining rivalries of the modern era.
Over the years, the two have gone head-to-head in multiple marquee matches, including battles inside a steel cage, showdowns for the Universal Championship, and the high-stakes main event of WrestleMania 38, where Reigns defeated Lesnar to unify the titles and become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
Their last showdown took place at SummerSlam 2022 in a Last Man Standing match that became an all-time spectacle. In a moment that will be replayed for years, Lesnar drove a tractor to the ring, lifting the entire structure and dumping Reigns out the other side.
While Reigns emerged victorious, the match solidified the rivalry’s reputation for delivering unforgettable moments on WWE’s grandest stages.
Brock Lesnar’s controversy and long WWE absence
Following that bout, Lesnar competed sporadically before his name surfaced in a lawsuit filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant against Vince McMahon.
The amended complaint mentions Lesnar over 40 times, alleging that McMahon offered Grant to him in exchange for signing a new WWE contract. Lesnar has not been criminally charged and is not listed as a defendant in the civil case, but the controversy led to speculation that his WWE career was over.
Lesnar’s image was even removed from promotional material and he was excluded from WWE 2K24, further fueling rumors of a permanent split. Defying expectations, Lesnar made his stunning WWE return after a two-year absence at SummerSlam 2025.
Following Cody Rhodes’ victory over John Cena for the WWE Championship, Lesnar’s music hit to a thunderous reaction. He stormed the ring and dropped Cena with an emphatic F5, seemingly setting the stage for a massive showdown during Cena’s farewell tour.
With the history between these two titans, Reigns’ choice of Lesnar as his favorite opponent makes perfect sense. Their matches have been brutal, personal, and filled with iconic moments, the kind of rivalry that shapes legacies in WWE.
