Speculation and rumors are rife ahead of the Royal Rumble PLE

Speculations and rumors are among some of the favorite pastimes for WWE fans worldwide. Fans around the world enjoy discussing and debating various aspects of the pro wrestling world.

As the Royal Rumble PLE approaches fans are unable to control their excitement and rumors around social media are widespread. The first PLE of 2025 will emanate from the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on February 1.

In today’s edition of the rumor roundup, we cover the latest rumors among fans, including updates on Brock Lesnar and Trish Stratus, WWE plans for Penta, NXT stars in the Royal Rumble, and more.

Update on Brock Lesnar

‘The Beast Incarnate’ Brock Lesnar has been away from the squared ring since SummerSlam 2023. Lesnar was scheduled to make his return at the 2024 Royal Rumble PLE as a participant in the men’s Royal Rumble match.

However, due to his involvement in the Janel Grant lawsuit, Lesnar was removed from the event. In a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer dispelled rumors of Lesnar’s potential WWE return, citing Lesnar’s ongoing legal issues with Janel Grant as the deciding factor. The promotion’s decision to bring Lesnar back hinges on the resolution of his legal case.

Trish Stratus

According to a recent report, WWE legend Trish Stratus has been discussed within the Stamford-based promotion for an appearance in the 2025 Women’s Royal Rumble Match. As per WrestleVotes on a Backstage Pass Q&A, Stratus will be in Indianapolis but her participation is still unclear.

“I know it’s been discussed. I know she will be in Indianapolis, I know WWE is bringing her in. I don’t know specifically if it is for a Rumble appearance but I know it’s been discussed. There’s only so many women’s legends they can call on, especially those that can still do it, and she’s one of them. So if she’s willing and they’re willing, I’d say better than a good shot she’s there,” WrestleVotes said.

WWE plans for Penta

The Mexican sensation Penta has impressed the WWE brass and has won the fans with his exciting performances in back-to-back wins against Chad Gable and Pete Dunne. As per new reports the promotion has big plans for Penta ahead of WrestleMania 41.

According to a report from Chris Featherstone, the promotion has “big plans” for Penta which will start with an impressive performance in the Royal Rumble match.

“I’ve been informed that WWE has “big plans” for Penta heading into WrestleMania, starting with an impressive performance currently scheduled to occur at the Royal Rumble.” Featherstone tweeted.

NXT stars in Royal Rumble

As mentioned above, the Royal Rumble PLE is just a few days away and the Stamford-based promotion is gearing up for the first PLE which will emanate from Lucas Oil Stadium. According to a report from Chris Featherstone, NXT stars are themselves in the dark for the Rumble match.

The reports suggest that NXT stars are “unaware of whether or not they are going to appear in the Royal Rumble” on Saturday in Indianapolis.

“Dr. Chris Featherstone has heard today that there are stars from the NXT brand who are currently unaware of whether or not they are going to appear in the Royal Rumble this upcoming weekend. Story developing.”

WWE NXT at Madison Square Garden

According to a report from PWInsider, The Stamford-based promotion has discussed taping NXT at The Theater in Madison Square Garden, New York. The report also suggests it will take place on March 11th, the night after Raw is hosted by the main arena.

Additionally, the Stamford-based promotion has confirmed an upcoming NXT event in Cincinnati, and PW Insider has reported that a potential Nashville show may also be in the works.

Hikuleo WWE debut

Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, claimed that WWE is hesitant to introduce Hikuleo to NXT, stating “My gut is they don’t want to debut him on NXT too early, or at all.” Meltzer speculated that WWE might simply be “keeping him” and “getting him up to speed.”

JD McDonagh injury

JD McDonagh has a ruptured lung after a harrowing encounter on Monday Night Raw. The 34-year-old Irishman teamed up with fellow Judgment Day star Dominik Mysterio and challenged the War Raiders’ Erik and Ivar for the WWE World Tag Team Championship.

According to Corey Brennan of Fightful, WWE CCO Triple H personally checked on JD McDonagh following the injury during the 01/27 episode of Monday Night Raw in Atlanta.

Furthermore, Fightful Select indicates that the promotion kept multiple segments from the 01/27 show of Raw off the show rundown including Quavo appearing with Jey Uso and the Alpha Academy – American Made backstage segment.
