WWE SmackDown Results, Highlights & Winners (May 31, 2024): AJ Styles retirement drama to assault Cody Rhodes

LA Knight wants US title, Andrade returns, Heyman alerts Kevin Owens, AJ Styles retirement drama & more!!!
The March 31, 2024 episode of Friday Night SmackDown is officially over and it is the King and Queen of the Ring fallout episode of SmackDown. WWE has booked some of the interesting segments and matches, focusing on the future storylines and for the upcoming PLE. Get to know what happened on this weekâs episode of SmackDown, as we came out with the complete show summary, highlights, results and winnerâs list.
WWE SmackDown Summary & Highlights
The Queen Coronation & Bayleyâs assault
Nick Aldis opened the show to introduce the new Queen of the Ring Nia Jax to the ring. Jax had her Crown and called out Bayley to the ring as she earned the championship opportunity at SummerSlam. Bayley while making her way to the ring, she got attacked by Piper Niven from the back. Niven viciously attacked her and took her to the ring to deliver a running crossbody.
Niven & Chelsea then confronted Nia Jax and claimed that she doesnât need to care about Bayley, as Niven will be the WWE Womenâs Champion by the time of SummerSlam 2024. Jax said that she doesnât care who she faces at SummerSlam, but she only cares about being the champion after the PLE.

Uncle Howdy glitches popped out, when Nick Aldis makes his way to his office.
Backstage- AJ Styles teases retirement
AJ Styles met Nick Aldis and said that he thought about their conversation last week and asked him to book a timeslot in the TV, as he wanted to address his future. Aldis approved his request.
Backstage- Bayley is cleared to compete
Naomi came to check is Bayley is good and asked her if she could compete tonight. The Physio says Bayley is good to go and Naomi went to met Pearce.
Tommaso Ciampa vs Austin Theory
The match began with Austin Theory trying to bully Ciampa, but Ciampa pushed him and took him down with a back elbow strike and clothesline. While Ciampa tried to take control, Waller from the outside distract Ciampa, making Theory gain control. Theory took Ciampa to the apron and hit a kneck breaker to outside the ring.
Back in the ring, when Theory went for the rolling face buster, Ciampa countered him with the knee, drop kick and a clothesline. As both target each otherâs neck, Theory delivered Ataxia and went for A-Town Down, but Ciampa escaped. Both exchange big boot and knee to the jaw strikes. Theory scrolled out, and Waller helped him enter the ring.
Moments later, he picked up an arguement with Wade Barrett in the commentary. This distracted Theory and Ciampa used the momentum to roll down Theory to win the match.
Backstage
Blair Davenport was in discussion with Nick Aldis, where Naomi interrupted them and asks Aldis for a tag team match teaming up with Bayley to take on Chelsea Green & Piper Niven. Davenport sees her interruption as a disrespect and warn her, before she leave. Aldis says Naomiâs request is granted.
LA Knight came to meet Aldis and ask, is Styles retiring tonight? Aldis says he donât know. Well Knight asks where is Logan Paul and they have a discussion in the couch.
Outside Aldis Office, Knight gave an interview saying that they discuss about Logan Paul and the United States Championship, but unfortunately Logan was not there. Knight went on to clear that he want the US title. Carmelo Hayes confronted Knight and botched his promo. Knight roasted him and they tease of a triangular feud.
Andrade vs Apollo Crews
The match began with Andrade taking initial control with drop kick and a lateral press. He took Apollo outside the ring and looked for a Moonsault, but Angel came out, which distracted him and Apollo took advantage hitting the Moonsault on Andrade.
Back after commercial, Andrade hit a crossbody on Apollo from the top rope. Andrade got fired up and hit him with a Flying forearm and double knees. Apollo tried to fight with a German Suplex, Over head Bench Bress and a Standing Moonsault. However Crews got distracted by Angel. Andrade took distraction as an advantage and hit him with his signature elbow strike and delivered Brillante Driver to win the match.
Angel Garza celebrated his victory and Legado Del Fantasma came out to appreciate Andrade, but he walked passing them.
The Bloodline
The Bloodline were on the backstage, where Solo Dikoa adviced the Tonga Brothers for their upcoming match against Street Profits. Paul Heyman met Solo and said things going different in Bloodline with Solo in control, he recruits very dangerous people into Bloodline.
With Roman Reigns as Tribal Chief, The Bloodline did everything on a purpose, but at present the Bloodline is running out of purpose. Heyman said that when Roman returns, they want to have Cody in check. Solo said that Cody is already in check and he doesnât know it. Heyman asks who is the weaklink and Kevin Owensâ theme playes in the TV. Solo wants Heyman to fix the problem.
Backstage
Angel asked Andrade, why he dumped him. Apollo Crews attacked Angel from the back and the officials separated them. This resulted in a match between Apollo and Angel next week.
Kevin Owens & The Bloodline Saga
Kevin Owens addressed his return at Saudi Arabia and said that he always has Randy Ortonâs back. However Orton is not here, but he knows that The Bloodline were here and called them out. Paul Heyman came to the ring and siad that The Bloodline with Roman Reigns as the leader has great respect on Owens, but Solo Sikoa doesnât have any respect for Owens. He asked Owens to stay away from The Bloodline, as Solo has recuited two criminals.
Owens asked why he is concerned on Owens, and KO claimed that it could be a plan of Heyman, who could operate pulling strings from the back. Heyman tried to convince Owens, but got messed up. Owens tried to attack Heyman, but The Bloodline came out. Street Profits had the back of Owens and they started a fight. Where Street Profits stool tall in the end of the brawl.
The Bloodline vs Street Profits
Montez Ford and Tama Tonga started the match with Ford having initial control. Ford took him to their corner and hit took Tonga down. Tonga Loa involved in a distraction, it made The Bloodline gain control. Tongans with back to back tag-ins took Ford in control locking him in their corner.
Ford escaped their corner and hot tagged Dawkins. Dawkins is fired up and took Tama Tonga in control. Tonga Loa blind tagged himself in and hit a clothesline and a Suplex. Dawkins is sent out and they blew his head on the announcement desk and Tama hit a flying clothesline from the top of the steps.
Dawkins hit Tama with a overhead suplex and both made the tage. Ford got fired up and hit Loa with a superkick, clothesline and drive Tama face first to the ground. Street Profits hit a super-block buster from the top rope. Dawkins with a bulldozer took Loa to the corner, Tama blind tags himself in. Ford hit a Frog Splash on Loa, but Tama hit Ford with a Flatliner to pick up the win.
Backstage
Michin was interviewed backstage and asked about AJ Stylesâs potential retirement. She says Styles has not spoken to them for a long time. Nia Jax interrupted her and says that she is the talk of the town and not to care about other things. Michin and Nia Jax have quick face off.
Bayley & Naomi vs Piper Niven & Chelsea Green
Bayley and Chelsea started the fight, however she quickly tagged Niven in to set the stage in control for her. Niven took Bayley in control, however Chelsea lost the control. Bayley and Naomi as one took both Chelsea dn Piper down before the commercial.
After the commercial, Niven took control of Bayley and as usual the control lost after Chelsea got the tag. Naomi got tagged in ans she took Chelsea in complete control, not giving a room to tag Niven. Chelsea tried to dightback and hit a Prettier, but Naomi hit him with the Rear View, when looking for the pin, Niven hit a Senton on her and made Chelsea pin Naomi for the win.
AJ Styles addresses his future
LA Knight met AJ Styles and says that if the rumors are true, he respects it. Cody Rhodes met him on the way give shook his hand. The OC met him and Styles asked them come with him.
Styles came to the ring with The Good Brothers and addressed what Aldis said to him last week. He says that he came to a point in his career, that he canât do it, which he does throughout his career for very long. He got emotional.
He said that his son got graduated from high school and felt like he missed a lot of stuff like that. He says that he wish to be at home being a phenomenal father. Styles said that without Gallows and Anderson he wouldnât have done this and they showed Too Sweet Gesture. Styles calls out Cody to the ring.
Styles says that they had a great match at Lyonn, France. He sees it as great match to end his career. He wants Cody to hand the keys. Cody revealed that they spoke after theur match and they see themselves as brothers. Cody gives a shoutout to Stylws and lifts his hands up in respect.
As both share respect, Styles attacked Cody Rhodes with a clothesline. Styles took Cody out, hit him on the steel steps. Officials came out, but Gallows and Anderson stopped them. Styles hit a Styles Clash from the steps to outside the ring.
