WWE WrestleMania 40 will go down in history as one of the most anticipated and most successful pay-per-views of all time. The show was held two nights April 6 (Saturday) & 7 (Sunday), 2024 from the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

This year’s WrestleMania showcased a number of great entrances, monumental wins, historical title changes, celebrity involvements and surprise entrants. Talking about title changes, a total of six championship titles have changed hands. Here are all the title changes that took place at WrestleMania 40.

All WrestleMania 40 title changes

SmackDown Tag Team Championship

Damian Priest & Finn Balor of The Judgment Day defended the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship against five other teams in a ladder match. During the mid-match, Grayson Waller and Austin Theory won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship to initiate the tag team title split.

Raw Tag Team Championship

At the Six-pack Tag Team Championship ladder match, after SmackDown Tag Team titles were taken away, R-Truth took the Raw Tag Team Championship belt for their team ‘Awesome Truth’. This brings an end to the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship unification reign.

Intercontinental Championship

On WrestleMania 40 Night 1, Gunther defended his Intercontinental Championship against Sami Zayn. After a tough fight, Sami Zayn dethroned Gunther to end his 666 days title reign and become the Intercontinental Champion for the fourth time.

World Heavyweight Championship

At WrestleMania 40 Night 2, Seth “Freakin” Rollins defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre in the opening match. Drew defeated Seth Rollins to win the World Heavyweight Championship. However, Damain Priest successfully cashed-in his Money in the Bank contract on the newly won Drew McIntyre to become the World Heavyweight Champion for the very first time.

WWE Women’s Championship

At WrestleMania 40 Night 2, IYO SKY defended her WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble Winner, Bayley in a singles match. Bayley defeated IYO SKY to win the WWE Women’s Championship. It is also the first championship win of Bayley at WrestleMania.

Undisputed WWE Universal Championship

At WrestleMania 40 Night 2 in the main event, Roman Reigns defended the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Cody Rhodes in a Bloodline Rules match. Cody Rhodes dethroned Roman Reigns to end his historical 1316 days reign to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion for the very first time.
