Semi-Finals Summary
From the brink of exit at one point, defending champions and a record 12-time winners of Sudirman Cup, China came out victorious against Japan in the semis to advance to their 15th final. China were trailing 1-2 in the semi-final tie after the first three matches and were also on verge of defeat in the men's doubles meeting before Liu Yu Chen and Ou Xuan Yi turned things around in a spectacular style.
China eventually went on to win the tie 3-2 after all five matches, which lasted over a record six hours.
Korea, on the other hand, had it easy against Malaysia beating them 3-1 in just four matches and all of them in straight games barring one.
This will be the sixth time China and Korea will clash in the Sudirman Cup final. China have won three of those finals, while Korea won two. Their last meeting in the Sudirman Cup final came in 2017 when Korea beat China 3-2 to lift their fourth title in Gold Coast, Australia. Unsurprisingly, these two teams have clashed the most number of times in the Sudirman Cup final.
They also hold the record for most final appearances in the prestigious tournament's final. While China are making their 15th appearance in the summit clash, Korea have reached the final for the ninth time.
