Of Indiaâs 12 medals at CWG 2026, seven have come in weightlifting
Harjinder Kaur added another glittering medal to Indiaâs weightlifting cabinet at the Commonwealth Games 2026, clinching silver in the womenâs 69kg final with a combined total of 227 kg, including 101kg in the snatch and 126kg in the clean and jerk.
The 29-year-old from Patiala kept pace with the leaders through the snatch round, sitting second behind Canadaâs Charlotte Simoneau after a composed 101kg lift.

She carried that momentum into the clean and jerk, nailing a Games record of 123kg on her second attempt before capping her night with a career-best 126kg on her third to seal the podium finish.
Itâs an improvement on the bronze she won at Birmingham 2022, marking her second straight Commonwealth Games medal. But there was no catching Charlotte Simoneau on the night.
The Canadian was in a league of her own, closing out the competition with a dominant 240kg total that broke the Games record and left the rest of the field trailing well behind.
Harjinder, for her part, had little to be disappointed about, as her lifetime-best performance on the biggest stage is an achievement to be mighty proud of.
Her medal continues whatâs been a stellar campaign for Indian weightlifting at these Games.
