Mustafizur Rahman is the only non-Indian player to win the Emerging Player of the Year award in the IPL.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been a great platform for young players to showcase their immense talent on the grandest T20 stage in the world. Ever since its inception in 2008, the IPL has given many emerging talents the platform to become household names, be they Indian or international cricketers. The youngsters have given their best for their respective franchises in order to win the ultimate glory.
To recognize these young talents, the league introduced an ‘Emerging Player Award’ in the inaugural edition in 2008. There are a few parameters for a cricketer to be eligible for the Emerging Player Award.
- The player must not be older than 26 years at the start of the tournament.
- Have played five or fewer Test matches or 20 or fewer one-day internationals
- Have played 25 or fewer IPL matches
