Harshit Rana took Liam Livingstone’s wicket on the second ball he bowled on his T20I debut.
Pacer Harshit Rana made his T20I debut in unexpected circumstances as he was called in as the concussion substitute for Shivam Dube during the fourth IND vs ENG T20I, played in Pune on Friday.
What made his debut even more special was that he got the wicket of the dangerous Liam Livingstone on just the second ball he bowled.
England captain Jos Buttler won the toss and elected to bowl first in Pune. India struggled to get going in the first half of the innings as they slipped to 79/5. After that, though, all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube pulled back the innings with their partnership of 87 (45).
Eventually, India ended with a total of 181/9. Hardik smacked 53 (30) and Dube hammered 53 (34). During India’s last over of the innings, Dube was hit on his helmet by a bouncer from Jamie Overton.
Then, Dube didn’t come out to field. By the 8th over of England’s innings, it was confirmed that Dube has been ruled out of the match due to concussion and Rana would take part in the rest of the match as Dube’s concussion substitute. This gave India an extra proper bowling option at their disposal.
Harshit was asked to bowl the 12th over of England’s innings and he struck quickly as Livingstone edged a length ball to Sanju Samson. Rana was smacked for 18 runs in his next over by Harry Brook but the youngster bounced back with the wicket of Jacob Bethell in his third over.
