Seven Indian cricketers have played 300 or more ODIs for India.

The Indian Cricket Team is one of the strongest in the world. Over the years, the Men in Blue have made significant progress in ODI cricket and boast an impressive ICC title tally, including two 50-over World Cups and two Champions Trophy titles.

The country has been blessed with world-class players who have delivered remarkable performances. In this article, we will look at Indian cricketers who have played 300 or more than 300 ODI matches.

List of Indian cricketers to play 300 or more ODI cricket matches:

1. Sachin Tendulkar – 463 matches

Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for playing the most ODI matches in world cricket. Making his ODI debut in 1989, he went on to represent India in 463 ODI matches.

He also holds the record for scoring most ODI runs, with an incredible tally of 18,426, including 49 centuries and 96 half-centuries.

He played his last ODI in 2012 and retired with the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 and ICC Champions Trophy 2002 to his name.

2. MS Dhoni – 347 matches

India’s most successful captain, MS Dhoni, has played the second-most ODI matches for India. The ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 winner represented India in 347 matches in ODIs. Overall, he played 350 ODIs, where three of them came for Asia XI.

Leading the side in 200 games, he also holds the record for most wins as India’s captain in ODI cricket, with 110 victories to his name.

He announced his international retirement in 2020 with 10,773 runs in ODI cricket at an average of 50.57.

3. Rahul Dravid – 340 matches

Known for his legacy in test cricket, Rahul Dravid’s greatness in ODIs is often overlooked. Nicknamed “The Wall,” he represented India in 340 ODIs. He overall played 344 ODIs, where four came for Asia XI and ICC World XI.

Playing his last ODI in 2011, Dravid scored 10,889 runs at an average of 39.16, including 12 hundreds and 83 fifties.

Dravid led India in the 2007 50-over World Cup, which ended in disappointment as the Men in Blue were knocked out from the group stage.

4. Mohammad Azharuddin – 334 matches

Mohammad Azharuddin holds the record for captaining India in the most 50-over World Cups, leading the team in three editions (1992, 1996, and 1999).

He donned the blue jersey 334 times in his career, scoring 9,378 runs at an average of 36.92, with seven centuries and 58 half-centuries.

His legacy was tarnished after he was implicated in the match-fixing scandal in 2000. Azharuddin never played for India again after the controversy.

5. Sourav Ganguly – 308 matches

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly is regarded as one of the country’s most legendary ODI batsmen. He played 308 ODIs for India, scoring 11,363 runs at an average of 41.02. He overall played 311 ODIs, in which he represented Asia XI in three ODIs.

Under his leadership, India reached the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2003 and were the joint winners of the ICC Champions Trophy 2002.

His last ODI appearance came against Pakistan in 2007 at Gwalior.

6. Yuvraj Singh – 301 matches

One of India’s most legendary all-rounders Yuvraj Singh played 301 ODI matches for the country. He overall played 304 ODIs, where he represented three for Asia XI and remainder of 301 for India.

What made him special was his performance in tough situations. He was named Player of the Tournament in India’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 triumph and played a key role in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2007.

He scored 8,701 ODI runs with the help of 14 centuries and 52 half centuries.

7. Virat Kohli – 300 matches

Virat Kohli is the latest entrant to join this list of Indian cricketers to have played 300 or more ODI cricket matches. The modern-day great’s 300th ODI came against New Zealand at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai.

Prior to his 300th ODI, Virat Kohli had accumulated 14085 runs at an average of 58.20. He hit 51 hundreds and 73 fifties in the process.
