Yuzvendra Chahal took a five-wicket haul in his first game of the ongoing One-Day Cup 2024 in England.

England’s One-Day Cup 2024 is into its business end of the tournament, where the knockout rounds will soon get underway.

Since there is no domestic tournament going on in India in August, a few Indian stars took the chance to fly to England and play in the One-Day Cup.

Team India have a busy season lined up from September to February, which includes matches in all three formats. To prove their worth and find a place in India’s squad, four Indian stars are grinding hard in the One-Day Cup 2024 in England, and doing pretty well.

List of four Indians who are playing in England’s One-Day Cup 2024

1. Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw started his career brilliantly with a debut Test hundred against West Indies in 2018. Many considered him the next big superstar for the Indian team. But his international career nosedived, and he faded away soon. Shaw played his last game for India in 2021.

He is going through a brilliant season for Northamptonshire in England’s One-Day Cup 2024 and is the highest scorer for his team. Shaw has scored 343 runs at 42.87 and a strike rate of 117.86 (best in the tournament).

2. Ajinkya Rahane

Veteran batsman Ajinkya Rahane is playing for Leicestershire in the tournament. His team has qualified for the quarterfinals, and Rahane played an important role in that.

He has scored 305 runs in 8 innings at an average of 43.57 and a strike rate of 93.27, with three half-centuries. Rahane would be hoping to get back in the Test side as India are scheduled to play ten Tests from September to January. Rahane played his Test in July 2023.

3. Yuzvendra Chahal

Veteran Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has been in and out of India’s white-ball teams for the last few years. With the emergence of leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi and all-rounders Axar Patel and Washington Sundar and the return of Kuldeep Yadav, Chahal has been on the sidelines most of the time since 2021.

His last ODI appearance was in January 2023. With the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 coming up, he will be looking to make his comeback in ODIs. Chahal is playing for Northamptonshire in England’s One-Day Cup 2024, along with Shaw. He bowled a brilliant spell of 5/14 in his first game in the competiton.

4. Venkatesh Iyer

Star all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer is also part of England’s One-Day Cup 2024. He is playing for Lancashire. Iyer has been out of the Indian team since 2022. He had a brilliant IPL 2024 for Kolkata Knight Riders, where he smashed two unbeaten half-centuries in Qualifier 1 and the final against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

He is also looking to find a place back in the Indian team. Iyer has played five games for Lancashire. He has scored 68 runs and taken three wickets in five matches.
