"Thrilled": Mitchell Starc reacts for first time after being bought by KKR for 24.75 crores in IPL 2024 auction

Mitchell Starc has played 27 IPL games for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL.
IPL mini-auction 2024 in Dubai witnessed money being showered upon two Australian speedsters. Australian skipper Pat Cummins and speedster Mitchell Starc became the top 2 most expensive buys in the history of Indian Premier League auction. Sunrisers Hyderabad spent 20.50 Crore INR on Cummins and one hour later, Mitchell Starc walked out with the most expensive IPL deal of 24.75 crores INR from two-time title winners, Kolkata Knight Riders.
Michell Starc will be making his comeback in the league after a gap of 9 years. Starc played in IPL 2014 and IPL 2015 for Royal Challengers Bangalore and faded away from the biggest T20 league in the world. In IPL 2018, KKR bid the highest for Mitchell Starc and got him into their camp but due to a sudden injury he had to skip the entire season. Once again KKR has trusted him and bid the highest for 24.75 crores INR.
Mitchell Starc sends special message from Australia
Australian pace bowler Mitchell Starc has expressed his gratitude after getting a hefty Indian Premier League contract from KKR and posted a special video message for fans. Mitchell Starc said, “Hey, KKR fans, I am thrilled to be joining the team for this year’s IPL (IPL 2024) and I can’t wait to get to Eden Gardens to experience the home fans, the home crowd and the atmosphere. Look forward to seeing you then. Ami KKR.”
Mitchell Starc has played 27 IPL games for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and picked up 34 wickets in two seasons. He made his debut against Delhi Capitals at Sharjah Cricket Stadium in April 2014 and picked up the wicket of Mayank Agarwal in his 4 overs spell. Mayank became his maiden IPL wicket. Starc is also remembered for his fight against all-rounder Keiron Pollard which led to a huge tussle between the two.
Kolkata Knight Riders looked to strengthen their pace bowling attack and brought in Chetan Sakaria and Mitchell Starc into their camp. KKR also got wicket-keeper KS Bharat into their camp as they lacked a formidable keeping option. Under-19 star Angkrish Raghuvanshi and all-rounder Ramandeep Singh are also included in Kolkata Knight Riders squad. Pat Cummins became the second most expensive buy with 20.50 crore INR.
