Top five player battles to watch out for in GT vs SRH Match No. 12 in IPL 2024

Match no. 12 of the IPL 2024 will see a GT vs SRH clash take place on Sunday afternoon in Ahmedabad.

The next game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will be played between two former champions. The 2022 champions Gujarat Titans (GT) will lock horns with the 2016 champions Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Sunday at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This game will take place on March 31 at 3:30 p.m.

Both teams have two points on the table. GT started well with a win under Shubman Gill but suffered a big defeat against CSK. SRH also has a similar story. They lost their opening game against KKR but bounced back well to win the second one. A win here will be very crucial as the tournament has entered its second week.

GT vs SRH: Head-to-Head Record

The upcoming match will be the fourth encounter between these two IPL teams in the tournament history. GT have a slight lead with 2 wins, and SRH have won one. Meanwhile, GT won the last game played between the two teams in 2023.

GT vs SRH: Top five player battles to watch

1. Travis Head vs Spencer Johnson:

Travis Head announced himself in grand fashion and smashed an 18-ball fifty against Mumbai Indians. He will be a massive wicket for GT because when he batted last time in Ahmedabad in the World Cup 2023 final, we all know what he did. However, he will be up against his countryman, Spencer Johnson, who has the height, speed, and swing to trouble the batter. This will be a good battle to watch out for between the two Australians. This will be the first time they will face each other.

2. Shubman Gill vs Pat Cummins

Shubman Gill looks to take his team to victory on Sunday. But he will be up against his opposite number, Pat Cummins. That will be a battle of the ages. Gill has faced Cummins across formats. Overall, Cummins has dismissed the Indian star three times in test cricket, but he is yet to dismiss him in the white-ball formats of the game. These two know each other very well, and it will be interesting to see who will get the better of each other.

3. Heinrich Klaasen vs Rashid Khan

One of the biggest battles on Sunday will be between Heinrich Klaasen and Rashid Khan. These two are the biggest names in their respective fields and are also in amazing form. Klaasen is coming off two blistering half-centuries, and Rashid is at his best as well. The leg-spinner dismissed Klaasen once in T20s, but the batter has scored 61 off 31 balls at a strike rate of 196.8 against him.

4. Abhishek Sharma vs Mohit Sharma

Abhishek Sharma created history when he smashed a 16-ball fifty against the Mumbai Indians and took on the bowlers. But he will be up against seasoned campaigner Mohit Sharma, who has been bowling incredibly well. Both players play most of their roles in the middle overs, and that will be one good battle. Abhishek showed his full range of shots, but it will be hard to hit Mohit because of his ability to bowl different kinds of slow balls.

5. Wriddhiman Saha vs Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Two veterans will be up against each other in the coming game. GT’s opener, Wriddhiman Saha will face Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the powerplay. These two have played with each other for Sunrisers Hyderabad and know about the strengths and weaknesses of each other. This will make this battle worth watching. Bhuvi has been the striker-bowler for SRH with the new ball, and Saha’s role is to give a good start for GT. Saha has scored 41 runs off 33 balls from Bhuvi and got out once in the IPL till now.
