Top five player battles to watch out for in MI vs LKN match No. 67 in IPL 2024

Match No. 67 of the IPL 2024 will be a MI vs LKN clash to take place on Friday in Mumbai.

Only a few matches are left to get underway in the group stage of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Match No. 67 will be played between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). This match is scheduled to take place on May 17 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

It is an important match for some of the international players who will be in action directly in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 after this. Fans expect a good game as it is a high-scoring venue and both teams have strong batting units on paper.

Lucknow Super Giants have a brilliant track record against Mumbai Indians in the IPL. They have beaten the five-time champions in four out of five matches played between the two teams, while MI have one win.

1. Rohit Sharma vs Mohsin Khan

Since scoring a century against Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Stadium, Rohit Sharma has only scored 88 runs in the next seven innings. That has affected the team’s performance because he hasn’t given them a good start. That is certainly a concern for MI and India fans. And to make it even more difficult, he will be facing Mohsin Khan with the new ball in the next game. Rohit has a weakness against left-arm pacers, and Mohsin can certainly bring the ball in with a good pace. The pacer has already dismissed him once in 8 balls in the IPL.

2. Suryakumar Yadav vs Ravi Bishnoi

Suryakumar Yadav slammed a century when he batted at Wankhede last time in a match against SRH. So he will be a big wicket for LSG, and they need to find the right matchup against him. Looking at the stats of LSG bowlers, we find that Ravi Bishnoi can be a good option. The leg-spinner has troubled him in past. He has dismissed Suryakumar three times in 32 balls in the IPL, whereas the batter has only scored 39 runs off Bishnoi with only four boundaries.

3. Hardik Pandya vs Krunal Pandya

It will be a battle between the two Pandya brothers in both innings. It will be an exciting contest. Krunal has troubled Hardik. Hardik has only scored 14 runs in 23 balls off his elder brother, got out once in the IPL, and has a strike rate of just 60.3. Adding to that, Krunal has faced five balls from Hardik and scored six runs in total.

4. KL Rahul vs Jasprit Bumrah

MI are a favourite opposition for KL Rahul to bat against. The LSG skipper has three IPL centuries against MI, which is the most by a batter against a team. He has also scored runs this season and will be looking to end the tournament on high. But he will be up against Jasprit Bumrah. These two have played with each other a lot and know about each other’s games. Rahul has scored 146 runs off 117 balls against Bumrah at a strike rate of 124.8 and gotten out twice.

5. Marcus Stoinis vs Piyush Chawla

Marcus Stoinis has been the second-best batter for LSG after Rahul this season. He scored a match-winning 62 off 45 against MI in the last game and won Man of the Match. So it is important to get him out early because, with the form he is in, he can take the game away from MI. However, Piyush Chawla has bowled well against him in the IPL. This will be a good match-up in the middle overs. Chawal has taken some big wickets this season, and Stoinis will be as important as any in the MI vs LSG clash.
