DC director of cricket Sourav Ganguly confirmed that Rishabh Pant will play in IPL 2024.

Rishabh Pant, who was injured in a car accident in December 2022, posted a few pictures of his recuperation progress on social media on Tuesday. After a brief hiatus, Rishabh Pant has returned to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to start his rehabilitation.

While his return date is yet unknown, the wicketkeeper-batter is still recovering from a near-fatal vehicle accident a year ago.

While some speculated that he could return as soon as the IND vs AFG T20 series in January, that appears to be out of the question for the time being. At the moment, even a comeback to the Ranji Trophy is improbable. Instead, IPL 2024 remains a viable date for his return. However, it is still merely speculation.

Rishabh Pant provides glimpses into his healing process

The wicketkeeper-batter returned to the NCA gym in a video released on his social media channels. He has been focusing on a lot of gym work to improve his leg muscles since his significant knee ligament restoration surgery in February of this year.

Pant is currently working on weight training and lifting. The reason is self-evident. Rishabh Pant, as a wicketkeeper hitter, will have to squat throughout the game. And the weight training in the gym will not only help him strengthen those ligaments, but it will also help him rebuild muscle strength.

A week earlier, DC retained their captain Pant for the IPL 2024, following Delhi Capitals Director of Cricket, Sourav Ganguly, confirming Pant’s participation in the competition in early November.

Pant was spotted batting in a club game in Bengaluru in August. Pant had gone to a sporting facility outside Bengaluru to participate in Independence Day celebrations sponsored by the JSW Foundation, which also owns the Delhi Capitals. He also paid a visit to India’s training camp in preparation for the Asia Cup.
