SA vs IND: Head-to-head record at ICC T20 World Cup

The SA vs IND, ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final, will be played in Barbados on June 29.

After the completion of the group stage, Super 8 and semi-finals of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, we have finally got two top teams that have reached the grand finale of the ongoing global tournament. Rohit Sharma-led India will take on Aiden Markram-led South Africa in the championship match in Barbados on June 29.

In the ongoing tournament, Rohit Sharma-led India ended their group stage campaign in the USA on a perfect note after winning three games out of four they played. India’s one fixture against Canada was washed out due to rain.

The Men in Blue arrived in the Caribbean Islands to play the remaining T20 World Cup 2024 matches. The Rohit-led side dominated the Super 8 stage as they won all three games and stretched their winning streak. In semi-final 2, the Indian side thrashed defending champions England by 68 runs to reach the final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

On the other hand, Aiden Markram-led South Africa are also unbeaten in the ongoing ICC tournament. The Proteas ended their group stage campaign at the top with four victories to their name. In Group 2 of Super 8, the Markram-led side topped the chart with six points and reached the semi-finals.

In the first semi-final against Afghanistan, the Proteas won the match by nine wickets and reached the final for the first time in the history of the T20 World Cup.

South Africa and India have faced each other six times at the ICC T20 World Cups so far. In their first clash at inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup, the Indian side defeated South Africa by 37 runs. The Proteas took their revenge in the 2009 T20 World Cup, when they defeated the Men in Blue by 12 runs.

In the T20 World Cup 2010, India once again thrashed South Africa by 10 runs. The Men in Blue dominated the next two meetings in the 2012 and 2014 editions, where they emerged victorious by 1 run and six wickets respectively against the Proteas.

In the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, South Africa defeated India by five wickets.

India and South Africa set to meet for the first time in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup

Both India and South Africa will play against each other for the first time in the ICC T20 World Cup final. The Proteas will play their first final, whereas the Men in Blue will play their third final at the T20 World Cups. The last time India reached the finals was in the 2014 edition. However, the Men in Blue suffered a defeat against Sri Lanka.
