Pat Cummins got sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for 20.50 Crore INR in the IPL 2024 auction.

Sunrisers Hyderabad will be paying a whopping amount of INR 20.50 crores to Australian skipper Pat Cummins. The World Cup-winning captain has now become the most expensive player in the history of Indian Premier League and breached the 20-crore mark in the bidding process. He overtook English all-rounder Sam Curran’s record of 18.75 crores in the IPL 2023 auction. Cummins has now become the most expensive player in IPL.

Social media had a mixed reaction to Pat Cummins getting more than 20 crore rupees in IPL mini-auction 2024 held in Dubai. Few of the social media users have reacted positively on Cummins getting 20.50 crores INR as they think Cummins may also be chosen as skipper of SRH, while another section of fans questioned SRH’s bidding plan as they think this will not be a value buy for SRH as Cummins has struggled as pace bowler in the league.

Bidding war between RCB and SRH

There was a massive bidding war between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad for the current Australian skipper Pat Cummins. RCB matched Hyderabad till 20 crore INR. Initially, the bidding war started between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings but as soon as RCB entered the race, MI backed out of the race. Soon SRH also showed interest in forcing Chennai out of the bidding war. SRH ultimately came out as the winner.

Here’s how twitter reacted to SRH buying Pat Cummins:

The year 2023 has been a memorable one for Australian skipper. Just a month ago in November, Cummins won the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 title defeating host India in Ahmedabad. Before that, he also snatched the ICC World Test Championship title in June 2023. Cummins-led Australia defeated India in the WTC final that was played at The Oval. Australia under Cummins retained the Ashes against England in July 2023.

Kolkata Knight Riders released Pat Cummins from their camp ahead of IPL mini-auction 2024 in Dubai. He was sold for just 7.25 Crore INR in IPL 2022 mega auction and now he has seen almost a triple jump in his salary. Pat Cummins has played 42 matches in the league and picked up 45 wickets. Cummins made his debut for KKR in IPL 2014 against Chennai Super Kings and bowled a magnificent spell of 1/29 in the game.
