Another interesting clash on the horizon, Copenhagen face the reigning champions of Europe

With many big names already out of the tournament after failing to qualify from their group, the UEFA Champions League has been thrilling with many glorious moments. FC Copenhagen surprised everyone by qualifying from a group composed of Bayern, Manchester United, and Galatasaray. They finished runner-up, surprising everyone with their performance.

Meanwhile, Manchester City, the reigning European champions, finished top of their group by winning all six matches they have played thus far. As a group composed of RB Leipzig, Young Boys, and Crvena Zvezda, they proved to be the better side throughout all the matches they played, proving their quality. It will be interesting to see if Copenhagen and Manchester City combine their squads. Let’s take a look.

Copenhagen vs Manchester City: Combined XI (Formation: 3-4-3)

GK: Ederson

With his ability to start counter attacks with his long balls and play composed passes under pressure, Ederson has become an integral part of Manchester City’s success since signing for the club from Benfica. In the four matches that he has played in this competition, he has only conceded three goals and kept one clean sheet, demonstrating his ability to lead the team in the right direction.

Under Pep Guardiola, Kyle Walker has developed into one of the world’s best defenders, developing his game to the next level. In the competition, he played four matches for the team, creating four chances and also winning most of the duels and tackles. He also makes more recoveries for the team because of his pace and physical ability.

CB: John Stones

As a centre-back, the England International is most often used, but he has also been used as a midfielder at times. As a result of his ability to play under pressure, and his ability to organize the back efficiently, the Cityzens have a 100% win record in this season’s Champions League. With 94.8% passing accuracy, he is the best passer in the competition this season.

LCB: Ruben Dias

Along with Stones and Walker, Ruben Dias has formed a formidable defense for the team, preventing the opposition from taking clear chances. With his ability to read the game and make last ditch tackles, the Portuguese international has enabled the Cityzens to become one of the best defences in Europe. 

RM: Elyounoussi

Copenhagen has benefited greatly from the former Southampton man, who has played an important role in their success in the group. As of now, he has scored nine goals for the team, making him one of the most valuable players on the team. In order to continue participating in the tournament, he will be crucial. 

CM: Rodri

Among the best in his position, Rodri is one of the team’s most important players with his ability to dictate the pace of the game as well as his ability to score crucial goals. He has scored a goal and a goal assist in the four matches he has played. Despite shielding the back, he also contributes a great deal in the final third, creating six opportunities. 

CM: Kevin De Bruyne

The star man of this side and one of the best midfielders in the history, he has made an incredible impact in the team since his long awaited return from injury. His presence in the side has uplifted the team who are slowly coming to their best form this season. He has contributed five goals to the team in five matches this season. 

LM: Phil Foden

As the heir to David Silva, the player has gradually established himself as a key player. He has been a vital part of the team’s success. In five matches, he has scored three goals and set up two more goals. With his ability to play in all positions in the attacking third, he is an effective weapon for the team. 

LW: Julian Alvarez

This Argentinian international has been one of Manchester City’s standout players, playing a key role in the team’s recent success. He has continued to light up this season, scoring four goals in four matches for the team. During this season, he has contributed 19 goals to the team, demonstrating how well he plays on a grand stage. 

ST: Erling Haaland

The signing of Haaland has taken the team to the next level with the forward scoring 21 goals this season and laying 6 assists for his teammates in all competitions. In the Champions League this season, he scored 5 goals and added 5 assists, making him a candidate for a major role in the team’s success this term. 

RW: Roony Bardghji

His performances have impressed a number of top clubs that have scouted him so far. Ronny is one of the best talents in Europe. Although only 18 years old, he has already gained a great deal of experience playing in the top flight. His goal against Manchester United in the 87th minute will always be remembered by him as his goal helped the side to secure all three points. Consequently, he has scored ten goals for the team this term in all competitions.
