Ranking the top five favourites to win Leagues Cup 2023
MLS and Liga MX clubs take part in this competition
The soccer system in the United States has been receiving considerable attention Lionel Messi joined MLS side Inter Miami. Messi’s arrival has catapulted the status of the sport in the country, with everyone wanting to come aboard the Messi train.
Lionel Messi’s arrival has given a big boost to Inter Miami’s chances to make an impact on the soccer scene in the country. Inter Miami was established in 2018. Since its establishment, it has failed to find a consistent and solid fanbase, mostly due to their lackluster performances. However, things are looking up for the Herons after Messi’s arrival. Messi has played all of his three games for Inter Miami in the Leagues Cup.
The Leagues Cup is a tournament which combines teams from both the MLS and Liga MX, topflight competitions from both the US and Mexico respectively. The top three teams from the Leagues Cup qualify for the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
Here are the top five teams most likely to win the Leagues Cup this season.
5. LAFC (MLS)
The Los Angeles Football club is one of the widely supported side in the MLS. They have which was the biggest name in US football before Messi arrived, in Carlos Vela. LAFC are the current defending champions of the MLS. And have looked solid in the Leagues Cup, inflicting a 7-1 defeated on Juarez in their most recent fixture.
4. Monterrey (Liga MX)

2. Club America (Liga MX)
Club America is the most decorated team in Mexican football. They have won 13 league titles in their history and entered the Leagues Cup as favorites. They have made the round of 32 and are expected to make the round of 16 as well. They have been given the odds of +1000 to win the Leagues Cup this season.
1. Inter Miami (MLS)
Up until a few weeks ago, no one would have given the Herons a realistic chance at winning any sort of silverware. It would have been considered a miracle even if they managed to be mildly consequential. However, the arrival of the World Cup 2022 winner Lionel Messi, and his former teammates in Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba has changed all of that.
Messi has scored five goals in three games and has broken Miami’s winless streak of 11 games. If Messi were to turn around their fortune, it would be an uphill task. However, Messi has done things like this before. And it wouldn’t be anything out of the blue if Messi handholds Inter Miami to the title.
