Chelsea will face Wolves in the Premier League match

It has been rumoured that Chelsea's Premier League match against Wolves will take place on Christmas Eve. This would represent the first time that an event has taken place on December 24 in almost thirty years.

The game at Molineux is presently slated to take play on Saturday, December 23, along with all the other matches that game; however, this could change once the Premier League announces the fixtures.

Widespread rumours state that the league's decision-makers are eager to relocate a minimum of one game to Sunday, December 24, and to reinstate the Christmas Eve match.

Since 1995, when Leeds United's Tony Yeboah struck a stunning single goal against Manchester United in a 3-1 triumph, there hasn't been a top-tier game on Christmas Eve.

Wolves vs. Chelsea looks to be the top candidate to be changed. Final scheduling talks are taking place on Friday, and the calendar is expected to be confirmed soon.

The Premier League has selected the match to be televised on Christmas Eve, reported to the Wolverhampton-based daily the Mail and Star.

Because of Christmas Day coming on a Monday, the league faces pressure to stretch out the schedule, with games scheduled for Boxing Day and the last weekend before the holiday.

The Premier League will then play additional games on New Year's Eve and Day, attempting to stretch out all of the schedule as much as possible.

However, the news wasn't going over well with followers of either team, especially supporters of Chelsea who will have a difficult time getting there given how crowded public transport is.
